An antidote to The ‘Things that everyone raves about that are actually shite’ thread!

Just trying to redress the balance!
What are the things that everyone raves about that are actually amazing?
I need to unburden myself because on the thread I have referenced in the title, someone actually said David Bowie, Scotland and Tea…Three things I could not actually live without, that are actually superb and should have never been mentioned.
So tell me your wonderful things that are actually really wonderful and we can all feel better!

I think the coriander thing comes from the fact that some people think it tastes like soap but I bloody love it. Have never seen ABBA Voyage but know three people who absolutely loved it.

We LOVE coriander in our family.

i think it’s a gene thing, so it physically tastes different to different people.

i’m glad i got the pro coriander gene. It makes everything good.

ZippyGoose · 21/03/2024 18:35

heston blumenthal’s food.

went to dinner expecting to be underwhelmed and i absolutely wasn’t

Ihateboris · 21/03/2024 18:38

Labradors
Decent coffee
Chilled Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc

Foxblue · 21/03/2024 18:38

Great thread!
Dogs. Specifically, similar to a PP, cocker spaniels. My dog brings me sunshine and makes me laugh every single day. Spaniels in particular have an absolutely special genetic funny streak.
It's okay to be a cat person. It's okay to be ambivalent about dogs. Totally fine! Don't expect you to love mine.... But I've never met a dog hater that wasn't also a miserable person in general 😬

MarkWithaC · 21/03/2024 18:40

Loads of these.
I adore London, crowds, grit, dirt and all.

I love a properly made flat white in an artfully scruffy little cafe.

Scotland IS all it’s cracked up to be.

Cats are beautiful, fascinating, wonderfully soft and slinky, just marvellous —even though they’re usually contrary moody little tyrants—

Ballet.

Air fryers. Dinner in 15 minutes and minimal washing up.

Artisan and/or sourdough bread. Delicious. Sue me.

loubd · 21/03/2024 18:44

dogs (I feel sorry for people who don't know the love of a dog)
air fryers
Abba Voyage (fantastic brilliant show)
London
Bowie
Cheese

It's become quite the thing to hate it now, but I really like salted caramel. And coriander. Not necessarily together.
Oh, and Christmas lights. I bloody love Christmas lights.

I do too. And cats, never met a cat I didn't like.

Trixiefirecracker · 21/03/2024 18:47

Love London and Paris and Barcelona! Think these were all mentioned on the other thread! 😂 Think they are amazing cities.

Tea, dogs and musicals ... these are a few of my favourite things 😍

Desdemona44 · 21/03/2024 18:55

Spring! The sight of primroses and daffodils and all the birds zooming around deciding who they're going to have eggs with! And we get to see it all kicking off every year!

PossumintheHouse · 21/03/2024 18:58

Things that were brought up in that thread which I 👀 about...

Scotland. Lots of it bloody amazing.

Nandos. Poor Nandos. It's surely one of the better chains.

Centre Parks. The rapids ride at the Nottingham one is a core childhood memory of joy.

Coriander. I wouldn't hesitate to eat bunches of the stuff in front of you raw whilst looking you in the eye.

Dogs. What the hell!? Won't somebody think about the dogs.

Menopants · 21/03/2024 19:01

Disneyland Paris - we had an opportunity to go at an off-peak time when the kids were 4 and 7 and I reckoned it was then or never, and a lot of people we knew were a bit 'LOL, good luck!' and others wildly enthusiastic. DH and I are cynical bastards but we had a fantastic time. That said, we never need to go again, but it was huge fun (even with an awful argument with DH on first night after kids were in bed) and totally worth it.

Yoga - I'm very inflexible due to a hip problem but I feel like I still get a lot out of it

AceOfCups · 21/03/2024 19:07

Pineapple on pizza is fine.

alloutofcareunits · 21/03/2024 19:12

Being able to financially treat my adult child, eg paying her car tax. MN seems to think kids should be 'paying their way' once they're 18 and you're being made a mug of if you don't charge board. I can afford not to, and to pay her car tax - and gave her my car. I only have the one so she'll get it all one day anyway. I'm not at all wealthy but I'm not skint either. I LOVE being able to make her life a little easier

Trixiefirecracker · 21/03/2024 19:12

I can’t believe anyone would ever say anything bad about Harry Styles, you’d have to be dead inside not to love that man! 😂

I think that's genetic. The coriander, I mean, not Abba Voyage.

Bassetlover · 21/03/2024 19:15

Crocs! I know everyone hates them but I love them!

Pineapple on pizza is not just fine, it's absolutely bloody delicious and should be mandatory 🤣

Love this thread.

The referenced one gave me a few giggles but then you do think hating on things is a bit boring. I've never been to centreparks but I reckon I could have plenty of fun at one. Lot of bubble tea hate but there's so many kinds. We bought the kids a round of them and the one who hated bubble tea had actually chosen a disgusting milky monstrosity with jelly balls. The tapioca fruity stuff was way too sweet but an entirely different textural experience.
