Kate's photo appears "manipulated"?

Have just seen news saying that associated press have withdrawn photo as it appears "manipulated". V strange

The grey isn't a bit of cardigan that's been missed out, it's Catherine's sleeve.

The picture is still on BBC news and still on the People Magazine website (American magazine).
I would have thought the beeb would be the first to remove it if there was some issue.

I really do feel very sad for her, it's becoming quite obvious really that something very difficult has happened. If she was completely fine and just recovering then she might have done a video, or something a little more 'real' or even said 'oh for goodness sake, it was hysterectomy because of X, I'll be about another 4 weeks but then I'll be at X event' or whatever.

But they're not, and they know that people are concerned, I really do hope that she's ok...

The generous view:
It was a wonderful impromptu moment, K doesn't wear her rings around home (I don't, so it's normal to me), and everything else is people seeing what they want to see in terms of errors.

The realistic view:
kids are an absolute PITA and it's impossible to get three at once to smile and look vaguely decent, so loads were take and the best of each stitched to together

The cynical view: it's an old photo being shared because she's too unwell (in whatever form), and KP have lied when they've said ifs from last week.

Sky are reporting about the removal of the picture - while showing a picture of the picture 🤔

I don't think there's anything weird about Charlotte's sleeve. All I can think is that they've pulled it because Kate hasn't got her wedding ring on - but who cares? She's been ill, couldn't wear it - it's no big deal.

It won't be about the children's bloody fingers or cardigans! Photos are edited all the time. Thats fine. This photo is clearly known by Reuters and AP to be deliberately misleading. They never usually pull photos and would have been reluctant to do so as it makes them look like idiots.

Surely almost every photo the press receive is altered in some way, I doubt it's been pulled just because of a wonky cardigan sleeve.

Anyway, either way that I'll take myself and my tin hat off to bed!

Wow. You may be onto something there. Her fingers are at the end of her hands in both pictures. Uncanny.

This is the "weird sleeve" issue. It does definitely look edited.

You say they won't want to look like idiots so won't have pulled it over something minor, but the AP spokesperson said it was because of Charlotte's hand. They haven't said it was for any bigger reason. So they're happy to say it was for something minor.

Possibly they have been hacked and the photo was put together and posted by whoever hacked, with the wedding ring removal designed to feed the rumour mill. But I don't know why they wouldn't say if this was the case, anymore than why they have left the pic up if not.

I reckon the realistic view is right but it’s been done so badly that the reputable media wants confirmation of this.

What’s wrong with photoshopping though? Does it really matter if Charlotte’s wrist looks a bit odd. It’s a cute photo.

My understanding is she has a hemi-colectomy as a result of Crohn's, it may well be taking a good while to recover.

Erm, Charlotte has a heel on the boot tucked behind her and a flat boot on the other foot. Sack the nanny!

Desperately trying not to get drawn into this but something is not right.
No one pulls a photo because of editing but more to the point, royals/celebrities etc don't upload their own photos. They are past to a minion who checks and double checks them to make sure they're ok before posting them. I know as I used to work as a "minion"

Not sure about the kids are PITAs theory. Those three are accustomed to posing for photos and two of them are old enough now to behave for the camera.
