Kate's photo appears "manipulated"?

Have just seen news saying that associated press have withdrawn photo as it appears "manipulated". V strange

Because it's been created rather than taken, one imagines...

The photo agencies care about this stuff because it really really matters with things like war reporting etc

The pattern on Louis' sweater also doesn't match on one sleeve.

Oh right, yes. So in photoshop to improve part of an image, particularly a portrait, you select an area then soften shadows, do colour correction (for ex. take out reddishness) + whatever else you want; that area is then slightly different in tone to the area you haven't corrected. The overall image is improved and t's not noticeable unless you look at it in great details.

If you imagine the position of her arms to make her hands appear where they are around the children, that doesn't seem anatomically correct at worst and at best painfully uncomfortable

I couldn't see the line you referred to so I ran it through the editing in my phone, using the 'exposure' feature (yes I am well and truly down the rabbit hole now) and can see the line/change very clearly!

And you can even see hair under that line that isn't above the line even more now.

Yes, when you try and figure out the logistics, her left arm seems too short so would have to be bent to go around Charlotte like that but it would be hard to do that with George's weight over her shoulders and chest.

This has suddenly and unexpectedly made me really sad. Either the picture is basically accurate, but they've tweaked a few bits - in which case it's really sad that they've looked at a beautiful picture of their beautiful family and still thought it wasn't "good enough".

Or if it's more fundamental, and those kids weren't genuinely just beaming because their mum is fit and well and sat right there with her arms around them, then that's just heartbreaking.

Either way, the use of children in any sort of media manipulation is sick-making.

I am not sure why you didn’t already think something ‘difficult’ had happened when they said she would be in hospital for 13 days and off work until Easter. Not sure why anyone would expect a video. She’s clearly felt forced to do a photo in the first place and that wasn’t good enough either. Sorry but you’re all bonkers.

This was always going to happen, I don't understand why KP needed to release a photo when the message on its own would have been just fine.

I think the Royal family have been abducted by aliens, and imposters have taken their place. It's the end of the world on this earth as we know it and important people are being taken to a new planet to start a new world. The ordinary/ unimportant people left on earth will soon be dead!
