Professions you would never date after working with them

I’ll start - surgeons.

One of them told me his wife was a GP -“because only one of us (him) could have a proper career”

Also - the overriding narrative that every female who complained about their outcome or consultation had “mental health issues”. They just couldn’t conceive that anyone would complain about them.

Doctors, of any kind!

I’ve been married to one for over 30 years!! He’s brilliant!! I thank God every day for him.

What's wrong with advertising/marketing??
Or writer, photographer or director?

And @BronwenTheBrave why not marine biologists, museum curatiors or train drivers??
Or chartered accountants? These are oddly specific!

Edited

Ha! Both Dh’s and my profession in that list. It’s a good job we’re married to each other is all I can say!

Justnevergetsthere · 10/03/2024 17:40

Police officers - 100%. Have been married to one for 10 years. Soon to be ex.

They are liars, cheats, narcassistic and have god complexes. Never have I ever met the most dishonest profession.

Alot of them have affairs with one another. They steal from one another. They turn a blind eye to bullying. They are huge reg flags walking

Jeannie88 · 10/03/2024 18:07

All depends on the individual, I wouldn't judge someone by their job.

Pilot

What’s the difference between God and a pilot? God doesn’t think he’s a pilot 😂

Hope you are ok? I totally agree with you. When I was online dating I had several men message me that were in the police service, one was a high ranking officer, probably married and would send me videos of what he and his colleagues got up too at the weekends, most of them married and preying on young vulnerable women. I wish I had passed the info on but I deleted it from my phone and blocked him. I could never trust a man working for the police ☹️. I hope you manage to get away and live a happy life without him.

Actors - once described to me as ‘prostitutes of emotion’. I am sure there are nice ones out there, but I’ve not encountered one yet

I used to have a ‘thing’ with an actor who was absolutely lovely. When I met him all he said was he worked in TV (there’s me thinking he was a cameraman or something) until I googled him and discovered he’d been a minor part in one of the worlds biggest tv shows (not one I watched though)

LavenderPup · 10/03/2024 18:43

Agree with actor, police officer plus army. Those are top 3, I have others lol.

I don’t think anyone is saying YOU shouldn’t be with someone with a certain job. But that they don’t want to be.

Its not reflective of your choices or your happiness.

I could never trust an actor because they are literally trained to lie convincingly and do so for a living.

criminal prosecutions

You really think that's no big deal? And you don't even mention how some professions attract dark triad personalities because of the power over others inherent in the work? Read the Stanford Experiment.

You want to put yourself at elevated risk of DV by dating a copper, go right ahead, it's your life. Don't judge other people for refusing to take the risk and talking about their decision.
