Re-watching old Walking Dead and I'd forgotten about the wonderfully-named producer Caleb Womble.

Best name ever, for me. What's yours?

In the mid- sixties, when I was much, much younger, my friends and I loved to go into phone boxes and look for unusual names in the phone directories. One fruitful time, we found E. Archie Bong Thompson and Waldemar Wurm. We were always being turfed out of the phone boxes by people wanting to actually use them to make a phone call.

Mary Fukyuto, film producer, springs to mind.
Went to school with a Virginia Hoare, I always felt her parents had overcompensated choosing that first name.
A lovely name, Honeysuckle Weeks.

There’s a news reporter called Phil McCann…..genuinely, he reported on the fuel shortages recently ( last yr?)

I remember Ben Rivers reporting on flooding for the BBC, and one of their weather forecasters being called Sara Blizzard 😁

Oh, and there’s also an actor called Steve Innocent who was playing a judge in the last thing I saw him in!

Met a Precious Gift last year...

I think that is really beautiful.
I also know a Jenny Taylor and have wondered why The Times journalist Roger Boyes doesn't change his name!

MiamiWindMachine · 07/03/2024 15:42

There was a family who lived near us called the Varnishes. Varnish is an unusual enough surname anyway. So what did they call their son?

Neil. As close as you could possibly get to calling your son “Nail Varnish”. What possessed them?!

Also, my dad was at school with a John Swan and a Florence Lawrence. Just to make it weirder, they were cousins!

sparklefart · 07/03/2024 15:53

I also knew a Michael Hunt, back in primary school.

Some less exciting ones, but aptly named fast people from running with surnames Pace and another Race.

Happyandglorious98 · 07/03/2024 16:59
