I've towels we got as a house warming gift in 1999 and they're still going strong.

Have some that were from my childhood & that was early 1970s. Still have a couple of Terry towelling nappies. So over 50 years old. I think quality was better in those days.

Dartmoorcheffy · 04/03/2024 01:05

I have some that were my mums, so probably over 50 years old. Still in good condition.

PianPianPiano · 04/03/2024 01:06

My mum bought us all our own colour towels when we were teens, I still have one of those some 30 years later!

Onacuctustree · 04/03/2024 01:12

Not a towel but a blanket I am currently sitting under...
It must be 40 years old!
My aged towels were lost during divorce.
There were definitely pre Uni ones .

Kidswhowouldhavethem · 04/03/2024 01:14

Oldest about 35 years old, youngest about a year and already donated to animal rescue…quality shit !

EBearhug · 04/03/2024 01:15

Couple of hand towels that came to uni with me in 1990. Swimming towel from c1984 (though it mostly only gets used when I go to the beach now, rather than the pool.) A couple of bath towels that are probably 1982/3 vintage.

Justcashnosweets · 04/03/2024 01:26

I still have the bath sheet my Mum bought me for going to university in 1995. Its so threadbare but I can't part with it.

ViciousCurrentBun · 04/03/2024 01:26

DH had a school, swimming towel with his name embroidered on it but unsure if we still have it so would be 1979 type time.

We have one from 1996, it’s still in good order plus two massive bath sheets from 1999 that were wedding gifts.

Garlicking · 04/03/2024 01:32

John Lewis, 1979. I keep thinking I should throw them out but they're still in good nick! Heavily used, and they still fluff up nicely in the dryer. More expensive towels have been and gone, JLP marches on.

sprigatito · 04/03/2024 01:33

I have some of MIL's towels from the early 70s

ArsMamatoria · 04/03/2024 01:40

Still using a 1950s printed hand towel that belonged to my nan!

mathanxiety · 04/03/2024 01:44

36 years old. I offer it to plumbers if they need a rag when they're working on leaks.

HaroldMeaker · 04/03/2024 01:52

A lovely blue towel from ikea c1997. It's a little ropey but I won't give up on it.

About 60 yrs old. Dad was a coalminer. A 'perk' of the job was being able to buy towels from the pithead shop. One fell apart last year. Another is just about holding together but will join the dusters shortly. (Yes, it's hidden from visitors.)

I've got one of my coalminer grandads from about the same time period. Its an orange and white striped one. Still going strong if not a bit smaller than it was. Sentimental so can't get rid.

Andthereyougo · 04/03/2024 02:15

2005 but been relegated to the dog.
I do have a tea towel which is 45-50 years old and still in use.

WandaWonder · 04/03/2024 02:20

I have some from the 60's or 70's they were not mine originally though

Spartak · 04/03/2024 02:54

My swimming towel is a world cup logo from 1990. My mum bought it for me on my birthday from Makro.

Mothership4two · 04/03/2024 03:16

OH brought some brightly coloured and large beach towels back from the Florida Keys in the 1980s which we still dig out to take on holiday

KickAssAngel · 04/03/2024 03:26

My uncle went to college 61 years ago. I still have the towel my grandparents bought for him, then passed on to me. It is used for mopping up spillages rather than being in the main bathroom.

Sprogonthetyne · 04/03/2024 03:39

We have a beach towel that DH took to school swimming lessons in 1997. We inherited it from MIL along with some other house bits when we were students and first living together. It still has his name label stitched on.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/03/2024 05:18

1979, so 45 years old. It was a wedding present.

repopupieres · 04/03/2024 05:21

Recently got rid of one my aunt took to boarding school. She would be about 97 now.

LaChienneDesFromages · 04/03/2024 06:25

A pair blue towel my mum bought for me from Debenhams when I started university in 1997. They don’t make ‘em like they used to.

And in our towels hamper we still have ten towels that have DH’s boarding school laundry number sewn on!

Lulu1919 · 04/03/2024 06:32

30 years plus ....wedding presents and have been in use since 1990 !!

autumnboys · 04/03/2024 06:35

I folded one of them only yesterday and thought it’s probably time to replace. We bought it with vouchers we got when we got engaged so about 27 years old.
