A sad beige home, for sad, beige children.

First thing I thought!

I would be hitting the bottle living there!!

lol, you could channel the bleak house vibe, clutch the cognac and waft in an alcoholic haze

I have log burners. We stack some logs inside the house

SPIDER TASTIC

i look at any of those wonderfully curated log piles and I KNOW they’re crawling with the little buggers…

We live rurally and rely on wood for our heating.
Our logs are kept outside the back door in a covered area.
We've recently found woodworm in our back door.
No way would I stack logs in my house now, especially under a wooden staircase.

It's on the rental market. Bland is ideal as everyone has different tastes so you're not ruling anyone out by having it done like this.

You're ruling out people who would like a home to be cosy and restful.

Somepeoplearesnippy · 03/03/2024 13:04

I love it. I'd add in my patchwork quilts, my art deco lamps, my sari throws, my rainbow coloured Le Creuset, all my original modern art etc . It would be a fabulous foil to my magpie tastes.

speakout · 03/03/2024 13:04

It doesn't illicit house feeling in me, it's OK, ut verging on drab.
It's also overly staged- and probably dysfunctional - piles of shoes and bags that don't belong to anyone, wood piles that are glued in place, jars of colour coordinated food in jars that are never used.

It looks like a room in IKEA, all fake, never used.

Apologies if someone has already made this point..........I've only read Page 1 of this thread, and my first reaction was to be bemused at best, gobsmacked and appalled at worst, as to why a Mumsnetter feels it's ok to splash all details of someone's house over Mumsnet, with the sole intention of taking the piss out of it and inviting others to do the same? 🤷‍♀️
Nice.........🙄

Rightmove is fair game.

Interesting or time~capsule properties usually feature.

Some love, some loathe, but not done to be unkind.

{Are you the homeowner of the Grey House perchance?!}

All these items would improve it no end.

It looks like AI to me

This interiors style was in the Guardian a couple of months ago - see here
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/dec/17/a-school-transformed-into-a-family-home-in-sweden

That sofa looks like it’s come out of a squat!

commonground · 03/03/2024 13:06

I'm all for a bit of sad beige aesthetic. But the music in the video is quite...strident - especially the dramatic ramp-up when the jars in the pantry are revealed.....duh duh duh...

Also the layer upon layer of coats in the hallway is making me slightly itchy.

I love a lime-washed wall though, tbf.

GoingDownLikeBHS · 03/03/2024 13:09

I reckon you'd have to sign a "no colour" agreement, like a prenup. So you can rent it, but don't be wearing any pink slippers in there, and all dogs must match.

Sort of place you'd rent to film a low budget horror.

guineverehadgreeneyes · 03/03/2024 13:10

MistyGreenAndBlue · 03/03/2024 10:31

A lot of posters seem to be missing that this is an empty house up for rent. Highly staged with fake books and clothes etc. No telly.
No one actually lives like that.

The estate agent's description says it's being let furnished.

Beezknees · 03/03/2024 13:11

I really like it. My kind of style.

Cesarina · 03/03/2024 13:11

SignoraVolpe · 03/03/2024 13:00

MNetters have done this for years.
Are you new?

@SignoraVolpe
No, I'm not new.
And yes, I've seen this kind of thread rubbishing other peoples' houses before.
That doesn't make it any less a shitty and childish thing to do 😐

GoingDownLikeBHS · 03/03/2024 13:11

So you have to put up with their furniture as well?!!

BTW someone mentioned the music upthread, that's the sort of track you'd have playing whilst the knifeman pursued you round the house ...

zaffa · 03/03/2024 13:13

piealhxiprshl · 03/03/2024 10:17

I don't mind the colour scheme, I quite like neutrals, but hate the texture of the walls, looks like drying plaster, and the wood under the stairs is a weird look too.

DH and I were debating whether it was just whitewashed plaster, but why would you leave it like that and then decorate the whole rest of the house?
Some bits look very appealing and restful. Some do not.

heartsinvisiblefury · 03/03/2024 13:14

I love it

GinnyWizz · 03/03/2024 13:14

I like it as a sort of fantasy but can't imagine what real.persin would live there, like this.

You can only eat quinoa and listen to Leonard Cohen.
You can only wear beige linen and hand woven espadrilles.

Lilacanemone · 03/03/2024 13:15

Far too many wrinkled beige and grey things for my taste.

Rightmove is fair game, is it? That makes it ok then 💁‍♀️
No, I'm not the owner 🙂

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/03/2024 13:16

@Cesarina dude, it's a holiday let on Rightmove.

BlueGrey1 · 03/03/2024 13:16

It has obviously been staged.
This house would appeal to a lot of renters.
