Just announced on the BBC.
Very sad to hear this news

OP posts:
NotFastButFurious · 29/02/2024 11:05

Just saw Si King's statement on twitter and it moved me to tears. I was watching one of their programmes last week and he looked really ill, i don't think I'd have recognised him if I'd seen him on his own or not known what i was watching.

WilloTheWispy · 29/02/2024 11:05

This is really sad news. I’ve been watching and very much enjoying their latest series. RIP Dave.

Flowersinthewateringcan · 29/02/2024 11:07

RIP Dave. So very sad.

JSMill · 29/02/2024 11:10

I'm not a fan of cooking programs but I really liked watching them. They were so passionate about what they did and were just nice guys. I also loved their diet books. They really helped me get on track to lose weight.
Dave trained at our local gym when he was on Strictly. I never saw him but dh did and said he was very nice.

LakeTiticaca · 29/02/2024 11:13

So sad. I went to see them.a few years ago on one of their tours. It was a great show.
Rest in peace Dave, a lovely guy 😢

CoastPath · 29/02/2024 11:15

Such sad news. Cancer's a bastard. He was so young. Properly upset about this.

Elleherd · 29/02/2024 11:15

Very sad news about a very nice bloke. I'm glad he got to do a last hurrah and hope he really enjoyed it, and glad to hear he went surrounded by his family and close friends. Wishing them all strength and solace, and privacy.

spiderlight · 29/02/2024 11:16

This is such sad news. He seemed like a genuinely lovely guy and I thought he was doing better. Si must be devastated.

REP22 · 29/02/2024 11:23

Such a shame, he seemed to be doing so well. RIP x

Needhelp101 · 29/02/2024 11:28

Actually got tears in my eyes reading this. How very sad.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 29/02/2024 11:30

RIP Dave. He presented my DD with her Gold DofE and was absolutely lovely.

JaneIves · 29/02/2024 11:31

Gutting.
He really didn't look well on TV a few weeks ago as another PP mentioned.
I love Dave and Si's bond and friendship. I'm sure it'll hit hard but I suspect he may have had time to prepare. If you can ever prepare.

A great loss. Bike in peace Dave.

MoonWoman69 · 29/02/2024 11:31

Absolutely gutted. He'd been through so much. At least he is in peace now. So sad 💔💔💔

Billoddiesbeard · 29/02/2024 11:34

Such very sad news. He seemed like a genuinely nice man.
RIP Dave😪

LaMarschallin · 29/02/2024 11:35

So very sad to hear this. He seemed a genuinely nice man and he and Si had such a strong friendship.
I hope his family and friends (especially Si) get some little comfort from reading tributes, here and elsewhere, to him.
RIP Dave

hellswelshy · 29/02/2024 11:42

Just to add also, he did an episode of Comfort Eating with Grace Dent and talked about his early life, it's really worth a listen.

Raspberryjamsandwich · 29/02/2024 11:48

Oh no, this is such awful news. I really loved their shows. He was such an articulate, intelligent, witty man. He had a wonderful way with words and could describe the food so eloquently. I loved to listen to him talk while he cooked.

longtompot · 29/02/2024 11:50

Such sad sad news. Like some pps I thought he had turned a corner so reading this news this morning really shook me.

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 29/02/2024 11:50

I'm generally pretty pragmatic about celebrity deaths, but this has genuinely upset me. He came across as a really lovely, gentle man and his friendship with Si was a lovely thing to watch. I saw the Christmas special, which was lovely.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/02/2024 11:51

LookItsMeAgain · 29/02/2024 10:17

Aw bless - it's just been announced on Morning Live too.

May he rest in peace.

I thought the presenter was going to cry.

BigFatLiar · 29/02/2024 11:52

Sad news

LIZS · 29/02/2024 11:52

Kym seemed particularly close to tears, probably because her father died of cancer only a few weeks ago.

TheDogsMother · 29/02/2024 11:57

This is very sad. They were lovely together.

hagchic · 29/02/2024 11:59

The piece on the BBC is a really fantastic tribute to him - so many people who thought really highly of him - and such an interesting life story with a difficult start and unusual entry into his BBC career. Really inspirational guy.

FabFebHalfTerm · 29/02/2024 12:03

So very sad. I too assumed he was recovering, certainly wasn't expecting this awful news.

i always anticipated them growing old & still doing road trips on modified bikes.

cancer is a cruel bastard.

poor Si.

much love to them both, Dave's family & all his friends.

💔
