I'm flying over from Belfast for the night on 8 March to see my son who is in first year at John Moore's university.

I want to take him for a slap up meal on the Friday night and would like to have it booked in advance. I'm looking for recommendations for decent mid range restaurants that do (in order of preference):
Italian
Roast dinners
Mexican
Steakhouse
Indian

And my budget is about £100 for the two of including a couple of drinks with the meal.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Someone had recommended Buyers Club and Bacaro Salthouse, so don't know if either of those are good, they look very nice though.

My son mentioned a place called Gaucho Steakhouse but it looked really expensive, some of the steak dinners £40 plus quid before you even order your sides.

@Redhothoochycoocher thank you!! I went to The Italian Club last year and it's a firm favorite. Just trying to decide between going back there or going to Baccaro which I've not tried yet! 🙌🏻❤️

Yes my lads live a steak but my daughter not so much so am trying to get a restaurant that has a bit of everything, fish steak pasta chicken etc and baccaro and Italian club seem to fit that bill

Quick question! I'm in John Lewis in Liverpool city centre and would love to go for a drink, nothing fancy just a nice English bar maybe with a cosy fire of that sort of vibe, any recommendations?

No cosy fire but a little bar just up the road ‘ brass monkey ‘ quirky small and chilled out is the vibe !
it has a swing in it lol
well worth a visit

Easiest way , walk up hanover street heading to central station but turn left into school lane , and it’s on your right , be careful you don’t walk past it

you may already be somewhere having a nice glass of something but well worth a visit another time

Maybe too late but try the Baltic! Or the Grapes just up from Berry Street…

Other cosy fire type places are a little pub on a side street next to the Quarter.

You could also go to the Green Man on Lark Lane (although you’d want a bus or taxi for this - 10 min in an uber).

I’m sure you’re already sorted by now :)

@KrazyboutKillian funny that's exactly where we ended up! I had been there last year and loved it and happened upon it when looking for another bar so went it there and had a lovely cosy drink 👌🏻♥️

@clothearedpotatohead thank you! I'll take those recommendations for my next trip, I ended up in Brass Monkey which was lovely, had a great time on this trip and will be back again soon!

Italian Club on Bold Street or Villa Romana on Wood Street both for Italian.
