Do you wait until Easter to eat your Easter eggs?

Or do you tuck in now?

No because I am not insane

YouReallyAre · 21/02/2024 20:06

Wait because they are Easter eggs and therefore cannot be eaten until Easter Sunday. Eggs and Christmas chocolates are the only ones I can have in the house and not touch until I deem it to be appropriate, anything else is eaten as soon as it's is bought 😂.

Kalevala · 21/02/2024 20:08

I would eat one up to a week beforehand if I was given one then. Longer than that and I'd save it closer to the time. I don't buy them for myself.

GoosieLucie · 21/02/2024 20:09

Why would anyone have Easter eggs in the house now, unless keeping them for giving as gifts to other people at Easter? Surely people tend to wait until Easter before giving them? 🤔

LittleBearPad · 21/02/2024 20:10

Why would you eat Easter eggs now? Just buy a bar of chocolate. It will be cheaper

Ithinkitstimeforbed · 21/02/2024 20:10

it’s psychological I’m sure but to me, chocolate in the shape of an egg is just yummier than in a bar. So I definitely eat them before Easter to make the most of the tastiness!

Meowandthen · 21/02/2024 20:10

Why on earth would you eat them before Easter Sunday. That’s just wrong.

MiltonNorthern · 21/02/2024 20:14

Why do you have Easter eggs in February?

user120405 · 21/02/2024 20:16

What? Surely you don’t have then until Easter Sunday?

merryhouse · 21/02/2024 20:18

I never eat them before because

either someone has bought them as an Easter gift

or I've bought them cheap afterwards

Most people would, though it could be a few weeks beforehand to a week later if you don't see them often. Now is very early to be exchanging eggs.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 21/02/2024 20:22

I must admit I keep getting very tempted by the Lindt bunnies every time I pass them in Sainsburys. Have resisted so far, but may cave soon....

reluctantbrit · 21/02/2024 20:25

I don't buy any Easter chocolates that early and we don't do the big eggs.

There is plenty of normal chocolates around in our house.

alexdgr8 · 21/02/2024 20:28

of course.
it wouldn't be right to eat them during Lent.
surely you can exercise some self-control.

NotmySundaybest · 21/02/2024 20:28

Does no one else think Easter egg chocolate is lovely then?

But chocolate tastes nicer in Easter egg form - and that is a hill I will die on!

herecomesthesun24 · 21/02/2024 20:31

The clue is in the name. I eat them at Easter. Same way I eat Christmas lunch on Christmas day.

I hold off the hot cross buns until easter too.

I bet the OP puts her tree up in early Nov!

LostCats · 21/02/2024 20:32

Easter egg chocolate is awesome!
I haven’t eaten mine yet as I am still thinking about which one I want most 😆 it will last exactly 5 mins when it gets home.
And Lindt bunnies are just the best

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 21/02/2024 20:36

I don't have any now. But generally small eggs (creme eggs and mini eggs) are fair game pre-Easter, but my "proper" big egg won't be opened until Easter.

It's not my favourite as it's rarely dark enough. It's nice for a change, at Easter.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 21/02/2024 20:38

We have ours on Good Friday. We first did it in 2020 when we all wanted to feel better, and we’ve done it every year since. The dc get eggs from family and some friends, so they’re just spread out more over Easter weekend by having them on the Friday.

Erm no I don't.
It's chocolate... it's not unusual to have Christmas chocolate or food before Christmas.

Not eggs but Lindt Chocolate Bunnies are a major food group in this house.

Bloomingdaffs · 21/02/2024 20:40

I chuck them in my trolley when they are on offer in Tesco. To give out at easter, but have been known to eat a couple and have to replace them.

Bloomingdaffs · 21/02/2024 20:42

Oh and I've already eaten at least 3 creme egg bars.
