My all time ballad has got to be Bright eyes by Art Garfunkel. Makes me cry everytime though didn't help when I heard it in the toy shop with my daughter with me 🤦🏻‍♀️. My 2nd choice would be Bridge over troubled water by Simon & Garfunkel. 3rd has gotta be the Liverpool anthem You'll never walk alone. All 3 set of my waterworks 😭. Brilliant choices BTW from so many posts on here, definitely the older ballads are the best!

Talk to me something - Bobby Darin

"At This Moment" by Billy Vera and the Beaters. I haven't heard that in ages. First heard it on the US "Family Ties" sitcom actually.

Or there's real old ballads our grandparents had on 78s ?

Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce. Not a ballard but a bloody beautiful song. He wrote and recorded it for his wife the year he died.

Disturbed singing 'The Sound Of Silence' the song Paul Simon wrote for his blind friend who he named Darkness. It's a love song in my book!
I ❤️ David Draiman.

I listened to strangers in the night the other day and it's lovely

My Dad used to sing "stranglers in the night, exchanging nooses!"

Borderline - Chris de Burgh - one of the most heartfelt songs ever (and one song who non C de B fans should listen to also)

I should have known better - Jim Diamond - provably falls into the non-ballad list but lovely song

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 16/02/2024 19:13

Savage garden - truly, madly, deeply

I'm biased though as its my favourite track on a playlist my oh put together for me while he's away.

For The Good Times - Perry Como

A beautiful sad song about saying goodbye.

I came on here to say Perry Como.

'And I love you so' was my parents favourite and still brings a tear to my eye

My dad loved Perry Como too. I think some of his taste rubbed off on me.😄
