Has anything you usually buy recently just disappeared from shops?

I cannot find 'cook at home' poppadums anywhere. Used to be in most supermarkets. I used to buy them all the time. I go to my local Indian shop for them sometimes but they've usually only got flavours I don't favour. The ready made ones aren't as nice and are usually in a load of plastic non-recylcable packaging which doesn't please me either.

I don't mean products that have been discontinued a long time ago, more so things that still exist but you just can't buy anywhere from recently!

Own brand coffee creamer is another one. Don't use it myself but I've heard people at work saying this often.

I've noticed quite a few things disappearing from stock over the last couple of years. Tesco used to do a really nice freshly squeezed OJ, seems to have vanished now. In our local shops it's getting harder and harder to find free range chicken of any kind. One (Morrisons) doesn't sell it any more and it's often out of stock in the others.
we used to buy frozen edamame beans but can't find them any more.
Really noticing everything shrinking over the past couple of months too.

I only got as far as your post so apologies if somebody has already mentioned this, but I get my frozen edmame beans in morrisons.

Origins clear energy cleanser and modern friction scrub. I've been using them for over 10 years and when I went to restock, I found they'd been discontinued for over a year. If I'd known, I would have stocked up but none are too be found anywhere. My skin just doesn't like any of the new products I've tried.

There is a shortage of tea bags, I read about it recently, but can't remember why. Weather I assume? (Something that will fix itself anyway)

It was on the News the other day. Delayed due to the Red Sea crisis

It's pricey though 🙈

Thanks. At that price I will find an alternative!

A pack of 3 red bell peppers. I’m 32 weeks pregnant and want only red peppers. I got a substitute for mixed peppers, went into tesco, again only mixed peppers .. went to Morrisons … no red peppers nor even loose ones!!! One red pepper just doesn’t cut it. I don’t want yellow or green I want red! 😂

Lidl do loose red peppers

Luckycloverz · 16/02/2024 06:28

And in Tesco at a better price!

Sadly not in the 2 local to me. I'll have to try other stores if I'm passing.

Dishwasher salt. Can't get any in the local supermarkets or the hideously expensive village co-op. Can't get any for the catering dishwasher at work either, so I'm not quite sure what's happening but there's defo a shortage in this area.

Cornflour vanished down to the Ukraine. Now only own brand. I miss it too

Arrowroot flour works fine to thicken a sauce. Nice to add to rice and almond flour for a crispy biscuit too.

Jelly diamonds. Used to be in every supermarket in the baking section, now the internet doesn’t even seem to recall them ever existing. How on earth have they stopped making them??

Katiesaidthat · 16/02/2024 10:17

PG Tips and one other English tea brand from my chain of Spanish supermarkets. Can´t find them anywhere.

hazelnutlatte · 16/02/2024 10:37

Irish soda bread - there used to be a brand called Rankin that was sold everywhere but I think it no longer exists - but now that's gone my local supermarkets don't stick any soda bread at all.

Free range chicken thighs. Always used to get them from Sainsbury’s but they’ve stopped. Not seen them in Tescos or Asda either.

M&S do them - saw the earlier this week

I felt like that about macaroni during the first lockdown. Started to think it was a figment of my imagination!

Ineedwinenow · 16/02/2024 11:11

Smiths Cheese Moments.. These were discontinued a few years ago and not recently but I’ve never forgiven Walkers and probably never will, yes the Scampi fries and Bacon fries are still snacks from the gods but nothing (including scampi and bacon) will ever heal my heartbreak of the loss of those little pockets of cheesy joy!

Walkers Crisps if you’re reading this sort your shit out and bring them back!!!

Mackerel! I love it and eat it loads but just can't seem to find it. Disappeared from Sainsbury's, now disappeared from Asda. Yet they have several types of smoked mackerel? It's almost like they're hiding the unsmoked stuff from me because I stock up on it

sunsunflower · 16/02/2024 11:40

Cherry Good (Night) Cherry juice with chamomile extract. It was lovely and you could heat it up. I bought it from Sainsbury's but it's disappeared and doesn't appear to be available anywhere.

PG Tips pyramid tea bags. We used to get the boxes of 240.

We couldn't get them either in Asda... now they've suddenly reappeared with a new box design. Keep trying - looks like they're still out there.

TotoAnnihiliation · 16/02/2024 12:05

Butternut squash soup. I'm intolerant to tinned tomatos and was using butternut squash soup as my base lasagnes, curry etc. I can get a fresh butternut squash soup but not a tinned one.

justasking111 · 16/02/2024 12:20

ASDA earl grey back, £4 for 100 yay.

I couldn't find gammon steaks though. They've been missing a while.

The storms have affected mackerel fishing plus mega fishing boats are hoovering up hundreds of tons for the overseas market. They get better prices if they sell in Norway at the moment.

knorr stir it up fajita paste

mrskingmaker · 16/02/2024 12:40

Campbells condensed soup (chicken, mushroom, tomato) on sale in Morrisons the other day (mid-sized store). They also sell eggs in dozens, whereas the local Tesco only does sixes these days.

SpikyCoconut · 16/02/2024 13:13

@VeganCow thank you so much, going to look at that now. I am also vegan, and also cook p'dums in the microwave (everyone tells me I shouldn't)!
