Has anything you usually buy recently just disappeared from shops?

I cannot find 'cook at home' poppadums anywhere. Used to be in most supermarkets. I used to buy them all the time. I go to my local Indian shop for them sometimes but they've usually only got flavours I don't favour. The ready made ones aren't as nice and are usually in a load of plastic non-recylcable packaging which doesn't please me either.

I don't mean products that have been discontinued a long time ago, more so things that still exist but you just can't buy anywhere from recently!

Own brand coffee creamer is another one. Don't use it myself but I've heard people at work saying this often.

They have the cucumber one listed on Ocado.

And also Daz powder.

Edited

Yes, they had it listed on Amazon, right picture and everything! I'm a bit wary now.

Riverlee · 06/03/2024 22:32

They have both listed. In it arrives, and you don’t want it, you hand it straight back to the driver fir a refund (I can send you a referral code if interested).

Our local Tesco has stopped selling Belgian buns, DH is devastated I used to always put them on the order, it arrives when I'm at work so he used to put it all away make a tea and have a bun, they've not had them in about six months, other branches do though, my mum brought him some from her local last time she came over (only about 20 miles away)

Our local Co op where I do the baking gets them in frozen and we defrost and sell them..

I'm not sure if any of these have been discontinued or are just hard to get where I am but I can no longer find Daz and had to really hunt down Stergene and Livlife bread.

Pukka mint tea vanished from the local supermarkets and milk delivery but I managed to find a single box in Waitrose at the weekend.

I'm pretty sure Korres lip butter has been discontinued, which is a shame as it was so useful.

For pp looking for tinned anchovies, I saw them in the same single Waitrose that sells Livlife and Stergene, so perhaps it's a portal to the past.

Asda and Tesco online have Daz... Holland and Barrett have Pukka Mint Tea.
Savers, Morrisons and Waitrose do Stergene. Korres Lip butter

@poppetandmog

I googled this a couple of weeks or so ago, apparently it is being repackaged / renamed as Kraft Macaroni Cheese - but I can't find any in the supermarkets yet.

Iceland online are pretending say they do have Kraft Cheesy Pasta in stock.

In the meantime you could try Marshalls Macaroni Cheese / Cheesy Mac and Cheese - very very similar, not quite as ' orange ' :) ASDA sell it, when it's in stock !

greeneggsandhamhocks · 06/03/2024 23:46

Elderflower thanks, I think that's a different product, looking for this tinted one in a pot.
Local Morrisons and two nearby Waitroses are probably just not big enough, didn't have any of it but good to know about H&B.

OMG YES !!!

COX'S ORANGE PIPPINS.......

I looked everywhere and couldn't find them anywhere this year, not even at the farmers market.

What's going on ???

Fields of orchards near us have been pulled up - they couldn't get pickers post Brexit. We suspect now earmarked for housing. Other similar stories all around Kent (major apple zone) from what I hear.

OpalTree · 07/03/2024 00:00

Blackberry jam/bramble jelly. Ended up buying home made from ebay

Elderflower14 · 07/03/2024 07:02

Speaking of Bramble Jelly... I loved M&S Bramble Gin in the small cans... Two shots of gin and bramble juice.. Delicious.. Haven't seen it for ages.. 😔 😔

Yes, I’ve noticed orchards being dug up as well, or the fields are being converted to vineyards.

XiCi · 07/03/2024 11:24

Just ordered frozen spinach from Asda!
Tesco don't have any, though.

I do find, though, that Morrisons often have things that other supermarkets don't.

Bags of frozen spinach.

M&S have them

SpikyCoconut · 13/03/2024 13:23

Another one for me is bones for the dog.
Used to be able to go to the butchers near me, give them whatever spare change I had and get a (variously sized) bag full.

I've moved, in all fairness but the three butchers near me don't have any bones in. Surely that makes them less a butchers more a 'Meat Shop'?!

And I used to be able to get them in shops such as B&M and Home Bargains but nada recently. There's a market near me that apparently does them but I'd have to get there before work and It's a bit of a faff but I am endeavouring to go there tomorrow-I'd like to support them.

They are now selling the bones to restaurants for bone broth. I get mine from raw pet food place frozen.

justasking111 · 13/03/2024 14:36

You need a card for somewhere like Bookers to get raw bones of a butchers type. Chefs buy them up

SpikyCoconut · 13/03/2024 16:52

Thank you for the recommendations! @justasking111 @Catpuss66 I didn't know that about bone broth.

I've also seen bone marrow as a side dish popping up in a lot of restaurants recently. I know It's long since been a feature of high end restaurants/fine dining type places but I mean, 'normal' places now. That's an explanation!
