Jobs you could never do

For me, it’s chefs. I am amazed at them. The absolute chaos, the hours, every detail that goes into getting a high quality meal out of the kitchen in as quick a time as possible, all the skills. They are actually truly incredible. I love watching things like Boiling Point, Burnt and The Bear and have no shame in admitting I couldn’t do that job.

What about you?

Slaughterhouse. Just couldn't.

Cuppachuchu · 11/02/2024 17:22

Podiatrist. Couldn't get that close to other people's feet, even before doing anything to them.

kitsuneghost · 11/02/2024 17:23

Anything work from home or desk based.

Hatty65 · 11/02/2024 17:24

Work in an amusement arcade. We live at the seaside and it makes me feel ILL just walking past them. All that noise! And flashing lights. And music pounding out all the time.

I feel really sorry for the folks working inside all day. I can't stand that sort of noise, it really affects me.

Snowsp · 11/02/2024 17:25

I agree with all of the above. For me it's absolutely a teaching job. I actually work with children and adults sometimes doing creative workshops so do teach a bit in my career. But couldn't work in a school teaching all the time. Absolutely hats off to them but if hate it.

JacksonLambsEatIvy · 11/02/2024 17:26

Anything admin focused. I’m horrible at admin.

Comedycook · 11/02/2024 17:26

Traffic warden

hattie43 · 11/02/2024 17:26

Anything to do with the killing and preparation of animals as food
Toilet cleaner

RootVegAndMash · 11/02/2024 17:27

Agree with chefs.

Even pulling a meal for 5 together has me stressed with timings sometimes. The thought of a restaurant full, all that pressure, then being judged on every result 🤢

BouleDeSuif · 11/02/2024 17:27

Office anything. I think I'd go mad.

Scarletttulips · 11/02/2024 17:28

Traffic warden

Oh I would love to be a traffic warden. I would be like bam, bam, bam.

Viviennemary · 11/02/2024 17:30

A dentist. I mean why would anybody. They had the qualifications to choose from a lot of great options but instead spend their time in a little room staring down people's throats. Just why.

Slaughterhouse. Just couldn't.

Same here!

RestingPassportFace · 11/02/2024 17:31

Exterminator.
Also anything medical to do with blood.
I once swayed when accompanying a child to A+E and the nurse caught me.
I thought it was a one-off but when I saw This is going to hurt, I had to look away from the incision scenes.
Very odd as I am good with accidents/fluids/was a first aider but watching others do stitches or make an incision and I go faint.

Sophist · 11/02/2024 17:33

Dentist - absolutely disgusting

Toomuchgoingon79 · 11/02/2024 17:33

Cleaner. I couldn't clean someone else's toilet.

Mumoftwoboysaged4and5 · 11/02/2024 17:34

Anything that involves driving for a living; lorry driver, bus driver, taxi etc - I only drive a car out of pure necessity.

RoséProsecco · 11/02/2024 17:35

Fisherman- seasickness, smelly, dark/cold. Urgh.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 11/02/2024 17:36

Police diver

Residentevil · 11/02/2024 17:36

A teacher at a secondary school ( although top set would be okay), dentist, any job that requires outdoor working all day in the middle of winter, plumber.

Alconleigh · 11/02/2024 17:36

Being a carer.

MrsApplepants · 11/02/2024 17:38

Carer. Can’t think of anything worse

Xmasbaby11 · 11/02/2024 17:38

Bus driver. I’m terrible at parking and finding my way around.

see also taxi driver, delivery driver. Stressful to me.

it wouldn’t bother me dealing with blood. Dentist would be fine too.

IncompleteSenten · 11/02/2024 17:39

Do you mean physically or psychologically?

There's lots of jobs I physically can't do dur to disability but if we pretend that's not an issue then I can't think of anything I couldn't do. For me it would depend on the wage and .how desperate I was for money.
