Went in with an ear infection that had burst. 24 hours in A&E Wednesday and Thursday this morning said it's now meningitis. I'm so scared.

Us too test results it's streptococcus bacterial infection. The MRI is on Monday. He seems brighter but is on morphine so hard to judge. He's asleep a lot

My daughter had this aged 14 months. She's 3 now and other than post sepsis syndrome (it turned to sepsis) she's thriving.
I'm praying for you and your family. It's absolutely awful to be in your position

Tilllly · 13/02/2024 22:48

justasking111 · 14/02/2024 15:08

He's coming home. There are no words to thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. I shall show this to my daughter in law one day. The power of prayer is underestimated.

God bless you all

Here's a picture of him a bit worse for wear today but he's still standing.

Please pray for son with meningitis

Fantastic news, you must have been worried sick, glad to hear he is on the mend

MargaretThursday · 14/02/2024 16:15

Glad to hear he's recovering.

One word of warning, which I'm sure the doctors have already given you: My friend had viral meningitis and what she wasn't prepared for was the long term dreadful headache afterwards. She said it was like having a migraine for most of the next 6 months, and her neck was stiff for ages too. She said that doing too much brought it on worse as well, so make sure he rests up.

Squirrelsbite · 14/02/2024 17:19

Great news 🙌

SabbatWheel · 14/02/2024 17:23

That’s fab news!
Two people I know well have had sepsis/meningitis in the last month, from seemingly innocuous infections. Horrible and frightening x

Minfilia · 14/02/2024 17:43

Lovely update OP! I’m so glad he’s on the mend.

Ear infections shouldn’t be messed with. I had a nasty one that I stupidly left over Christmas a few years back. It ended up spreading to the tiny bones in my inner ear. I got a thorough bollocking from the doctor, I had no idea it could turn to meningitis at the time.

I also rang 111 over Christmas this year when DS was in agony with an ear infection and he was A&E triaged.

Just posting my experience too so people don’t mess around with their health!

Mynx · 14/02/2024 17:52

Great news, I know from my own experience how the relief is absolutely incredible.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 14/02/2024 18:19
