Went in with an ear infection that had burst. 24 hours in A&E Wednesday and Thursday this morning said it's now meningitis. I'm so scared.

I am SO sorry you're going through this. I know how utterly terrifying it is. I didn't sleep for two weeks.

My son was just discharged on Friday after 2 weeks in hospital with meningitis. He had a double wisdom tooth infection that went to his brain. So scary, but he's fine now, although slight hearing loss.

JeanSolPartre · 12/02/2024 19:44

Praying.

A prayer has been said 🌷 sending love to you and your family. Your son is in the best place and drs/nurses are brilliant! X

MRI today, his sinuses are in a bad way from a preliminary look Otherwise they think the antibiotics have kicked it into touch. We'll know more tomorrow. He's still having bad headaches, very dizzy. Good news his ear has stopped leaking again but he's still on bed rest.

His poor wife is such a star ⭐. Advocating for him every day.

Glad the antibiotics have mostly kicked it into touch and that his ear has stopped leaking.

spiderlight · 12/02/2024 20:56

This sounds hopeful. Thank goodness for antibiotics.

Tilllly · 12/02/2024 21:42

Some progress then, thank God

I'll keep you all in my prayers

In my thoughts,op.
Good to hear there is some good progress💐

Mynx · 12/02/2024 22:13

In my thoughts too. My 25 yr old son was hospitalised with meningitis a few years back but made a good recovery after IV antibiotics. I so hope you get the same result we did.

DistinguishedSocialCommenator · 13/02/2024 12:42

Thank you for taking time out to update us with the good news
Wish your son and family all the best.

Tearsofamermaid · 13/02/2024 12:46

Praying for you, I know how utterly horrific it is from personal experience as my baby daughter had it a few years ago. I was screaming and making deals with God to spare her and take me. Thank goodness she survived and with no lasting damage. I pray for your son that he will be the same. Sending strength and a hand hold.

Riverlee · 13/02/2024 12:48

Thank you for the update, and good to hear the antibiotics seem to working.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 13/02/2024 13:54

I hope he continues to make progress

justasking111 · 13/02/2024 14:25

He's on the ward, 💃💃

someone a lot sicker admitted needed the isolation room, he's happy to be out of there. Now he doesn't need the care he's had for the last week and no chance that he can infect anyone else. He's off intravenous antibiotics, fluids and eating again.

We're still waiting for microbiology results which they sent away to Liverpool.

It's a slow plodding path to cross everything off the list so that he can go home with oral meds.

Hes self employed, his staff have been amazing keeping all the balls in the air for him.
