Please pray for son with meningitis

Went in with an ear infection that had burst. 24 hours in A&E Wednesday and Thursday this morning said it's now meningitis. I'm so scared.

Oh how worrying for you all. Hoping your son makes a speedy recovery

Thank you. He had a lumbar puncture late last night. MRI today. They've tested bloods, urine and fluid leak again. So it's just waiting for further updates now.

Wishing you and his loved ones all the very best. It is often much worse for the people looking on than it is for the person who is ill.

I know.... I had meningitis at 23. New Years Eve and thought it was flu, was raging I couldn't go out. I tried to get out the upstairs window in delirium. Very lucky that my mum had her instincts switched on, and called the GP, he came out immediately (they did in those days) and I was carted off to hospital within an hour. That GP probably saved my life as he gave me a shot of antibiotics in my house before the hospital.

I was also very poorly but remember nothing. Even the lumbar punctures were nothing to me I was so out of it. I also had ear issues, and spent 4 weeks in hospital. I am fine now thankfully but it was a long process of recovery to be truthful. The only residual issue I have is partial deafness.

There will be ups and downs but know that he is in the best care, and things have come a long way since I was sick with it in the 80s.

I can't begin to imagine how frantic you must be. Keeping absolutely everything crossed for you, OP.

I will pray for your son, and for the medical staff caring for him

So sorry 😢 but he's in the right place. I had bacterial meningitis at age 1 and I'm 40 this year with no serious issues (slight hearing impairment is all). It's obviously really serious and you must be so so worried but there is hope x
