Camilla if Charlie pegs it?

sick of listening to a blow by blow account of the kings prostate and some other unknown area of his anatomy that is in bother.

But it did set me thinking about the OW, Camilla. Am sure Charlie will provide for her from his personal wealth in his will, but what on earth would we be expected to call her after Charlie’s death?

I mean we cannot call her the Queen mother like Queens Liz mother, she has no biological relationship with the royals at all.

In my experience adult step children grin and bear their parents new spouse but rarely stay in touch after the parents death. You only have to look on the posts here to know that.

It would, I suppose, be up to King Willy, could be a source of amusement for none royalist folk like me,

Listening to endless royal experts waffle on about it all when it happens.

I just a thought…

I think King Charles will outlive Queen Camilla but if he doesn’t I think she will retire and move back to her house and spend time with her family.

If she is known as HM Queen Camilla then we will know William likes her or at least doesn’t hold a grudge. If she is known as The Dowager Queen or similar then that will be his revenge.

Meowandthen · 06/02/2024 21:10

I am no royalist, don’t really care about any of them, but even I think this is a shitty title and topic.

@Honeychickpea "Again, that reflects more badly on Charles than on Camilla. To marry a very young woman under false pretences, having no intention to be sexually faithful. But again, perfectly acceptable behavior among his class."

It reflects badly on both of them. Charles is beyond the pale to me-an appalling human being. But Camilla made grim choices too.

Saint Diana made some pretty poor choices as well but that always seems to be glossed over

But she won't be queen will, she? Won't that be Katherine as William will be King..

@ownedbymydog really? You think presidency would be better? I disagree.

I think 100% it would be better. If a presidency was modelled on Ireland's it would be more efficient, much cheaper..... and democratic. I think an unelected monarch is an embarrassment.

Theres so many things wrong with having a "royal" family, too many to mention.

The fact Charles didn't have to pay inheritance tax is outrageous.

She'll be Queen Camilla. That's her title, married or widowed.

She won’t be HM The Queen.

But she’ll still be Queen Camilla or Dowager Queen.

When QEII came to the throne there were three queens

Maireas · 06/02/2024 21:16

She will be HM Queen Camilla. It's possible to have more than one living Queen (as in 1952).

Not by me. But this thread isn't about her.

I think the name by which she'll be known is the least interesting thing. I wonder what her relationship will be with the rest of them? Like on Christmas day when you see them all walking to church, will she be there?

Why on earth would they exclude her from church?!

I don't think they would but if Charles was not around, would she really spend Christmas morning with them? Surely she'd be more likely to spend it with her own children and grandchildren?

Hmmm let’s explore that, Dianna was 19 Charlie was 32, it was the worse thing i ever saw as a young woman myself at that time. It was clear to me then it was an arranged marriage, and she as, only a clean woman with no strong genetical relationship with the HRs but of regal blood would do for the propagation of the elite.

Maybe, who knows. However, I doubt they'd exclude her from Christmas Holy Communion!

I very much doubt that she will want to be there.

YogaLite · 06/02/2024 21:37

What I quite like is that the world moved on so much that any OW can now aspire to be fully recognised legit spouse in time... so why should we not be more accepting of OW roles rather than go straight for LTB ...

I think, like last Christmas, her children and grandchildren would spend it with the RF.

After that I think she’d switch to quiet Christmas with the family away from the palaver of a royal Christmas.

I think she’d be at all the official events like Trooping the colour.

YogaLite · 06/02/2024 21:38

Oh, I expect Camilla and her side of the family would very much want to be there @Honeychickpea

Comedycook · 06/02/2024 21:39

Yes maybe the big official events. I wonder about private events like birthdays and such? Would she be invited? Would she go? It's hard to know if her relationship with the rest of the royals is a fond one or if they merely tolerate each other.

BobnLen · 06/02/2024 21:45

They may well merely tolerate each other, we do in our family and don't go visiting or to birthdays, it's not that unusual.
