Posting here for traffic. I originally posted in toys and games and got nowhere.

Nephew is 7 beginning of March and I'm stuck. DSis literally no help as she doesn't agree with my £25 budget. Thinks all I will buy is something crap! £25 is literally all we can afford.

This was Christmas and he loved it: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B092VWCQF8?ref=cmmswrrcsowaaapindppXE6HGCY9PPJMJTRB9BJM&cafHiResImg=1&language=en-GB

He loves anything craft/paint based. No modelling clay please.

Has a few paint by numbers. Not sure if he wants more. Loves marvel, Roblox and football.

Thank you so much x

Does he like Lego? They have some on the 2 for £20 offer in Argos. If not maybe a new football or a shirt of his favorite team. I'm sure he will love whatever he receives

Urgh how rude and ungrateful of his mother. Especially as money is tight for you. £25 isnt peanuts and is plenty to buy a perfectly lovely gift. Sorry Ive no suggestions (cos my kiddos are older) but £25 isnt mean in anyway. Gift what you can afford!

Ifailed · 03/02/2024 21:07

nothing, he won't remember.

nothing, he won't remember.

How helpful. And a bit bitter perhaps?

herbygarden · 03/02/2024 21:11

Maybe Hama Beads? They are fun and good at that age! Hours of peace too if he enjoys that kind of craft. NOTE: you need an iron and greaseproof paper!

purplemunkey · 03/02/2024 21:15

At 7, he will remember.

Sorry, I’d be a bit annoyed with that den set. I don’t have room for something like that.

Terrrence · 03/02/2024 21:16

Is the DSis who thinks all you can with your budget is something crap the mother of your nephew? If so, I would tell her I wouldn't bother then.

If it is a different sister I'd go to The Works with my £25 and buy him a load of craft materials.

chopinwaltz26 · 03/02/2024 21:21

I have small people of that age and got them for Christmas something from Homecrafts. They were buildable pirate ships, trains etc. plus I added washable colouring sticks. So far the feedback has been great.
Not expensive, around GBP 20 for the big stuff and a bit more for the colouring things.

CatStoleMyChocolate · 03/02/2024 21:21

He might like a marble run if he hasn’t got one already?

And £25 is a generous budget! Don’t let anyone make you feel bad!

elh1605 · 03/02/2024 21:23

A voucher for something to do- Activity centre, trampoline park, rock climbing session, animal park etc.
£25 is the limit we have for our nieces and nephews (2-17yrs)

TroysMammy · 03/02/2024 21:23

Could you take him out for the day and treat him to lunch and/or visit an activity or an attraction? I used to buy my niece a small gift and take her out to lunch (sausage, beans and chips). A day out with Auntie can be fun, memorable and Auntie gets the enjoyment too. Now she's a teenager I take her away for the weekend, she's great company even though she's a soap dodger.

ElfieLea · 03/02/2024 21:24

If she doesn't like your budget and won't be helpful, then Slime it is!

Or this marble run was better quality than I was expecting and more than enough pieces.

I was in Hobbycraft yesterday and they had some lovely craft and science kits too. They had a cool slime science kit but I wanted something more girly for my little one.

CoffeeCup14 · 03/02/2024 21:30

I got a box of craft bits ,(feathers, lolly sticks, tissue paper, glue, pipe cleaners etc) I think for about £15 on Amazon. They are amazing and kids love them!

Frenchiex · 03/02/2024 21:36

Is there a local pottery painting place you could get him a voucher for? My children got some for Christmas and it’s always a lovely few hours out and they love collecting them when they’ve been glazed.

SpallChickerIsBroken · 03/02/2024 21:38

Your sister is so rude! Honestly, for many years my budget for my own children was not much more than that. I think £25 is fine (generous, even).

I'm getting my nephew (also 7 in early March) a children's cookbook, a personalised wooden spoon and some other accessories - not sure what yet. Maybe a couple of those spice kits where you add the ingredients to a paste or whatever.

My DC are older, but they quite like book tokens or gift vouchers where they can go to the shop and choose something for themselves. A "hamper" of favourite sweets.

MikiSu · 03/02/2024 21:42

My DS is 7 and is also crafty/ loves drawing. Got him these for Christmas and he loves them, probably his most used present! amzn.eu/d/gBTaFHH

www.bakerross.co.uk

Absolutely brilliant for craft stuff. Acrylic paints, rocks & googly eyes went down well with a friends child. All age appropriate. They are school suppliers so everything is safe/up to standard.

nothing, he won't remember.

He’s seven not seven months, of course he’ll remember..

And as his mother appears to be a dick, he needs an engaged aunt..

Fixesplease · 03/02/2024 22:08

Mine turned 7 yesterday. Craft kit from the works.. about 7 quid, they do a few for 15/ 20.. and playmobil stuff from Vinted. He was thrilled btw!

Your sister is being... erm.. I'd say a cow!

ChickpeaPie · 03/02/2024 22:12

Roller skates
lego
football cards and collectors folder
football
football shirt/socks/boot bag

LadyChilli · 03/02/2024 22:14

That's a decent budget for a 7 year old. I'd not want anyone spending more even if they could afford it because at that age they don't appreciate the value of money.

A few PP have mentioned marble runs and that would have gone down well with my DS at that age. As would lego. A voucher or some Robux is also something they love - as adults we forget that little ones don't often get the chance to choose for themselves.

Otherwise being more inventive, you could do paper and an origami book, selection of balloons and a balloon modelling book, paints/glue/glitter and paper.
