@Stringagal @ConsistentlyPeeved

It did look a bit close for comfort didn’t it!!

For info 1000 feet vertical separation is absolutely standard and at medium and high altitude, it can sometimes be 500 feet at low altitude.

Chersfrozenface · 24/01/2024 10:19

Oh, and the little Aer Lingus Belfast to LBA did land at Liverpool.

Looks like the Dublin did too

Well it gave me the heebies, I’m sure they could have waved at each other 😂

mummyh2016 · 24/01/2024 10:28

LBA-TFS that has just taken off is immediately diverting to STN, presume something happened on take off?

notimagain · 24/01/2024 10:29

@Stringagal

It’s only at 700ft unless there’s a glitch

Flightradar altitude data at low altitudes around can be almost worthless unless you apply some corrections…

It attempts to indicate altitude above sea level, so the reading doesn’t give you height above terrain or airport, and more importantly unlike the kit on aircraft or in ATC it can’t correct for atmospheric pressure being off what’s know as the standard value.

If there’s popular demand I’m sure somebody can come along how to do the sums to get a more accurate figure at an airport of your choice, but to summarize it’s best not to treat Flightradars altitude figures at low level as accurate or try to do forensic analysis with them.

It’s slightly different at medium/high altitude.

It was saying diverted to London before take off I think. It just flew over me as I had stepped away from flight tracker thinking nothing was moving.

I can’t even see that on FR24

mummyh2016 · 24/01/2024 10:32

@IfalldownbutIgetupagain ahhh I didn't notice before take off. It doesn't appear to be heading to STN anyway so much be a glitch.

Weird. Didn’t see it at Leeds and it’s not on the departure schedule.

Edit:
Ignore me, it’s down as a Stansted flight. Well at least somethings managed to leave/arrive LBA today!

Wonder if it’s a repositioning flight . After the disruption of the two storms planes are going to all over place aren’t they !

Chersfrozenface · 24/01/2024 10:43

If the LBA-TFS flight is a Ryanair, RYR68H, FR2492, it's currently level with Birmingham anc Leicester and noted on FR as diverted to Stansted

Chersfrozenface · 24/01/2024 10:43

Now over Coventry.

Just landed at Stansted

mobogogi · 24/01/2024 11:54

There's lots of typhoons up gathering near coningsby - waiting for the dinner bell to ring perhaps Grin

Chersfrozenface · 24/01/2024 12:22

I love that some of them are TYPHOO and a number.

This might do a couple of tea rounds

The good news for LBA is the wind is meant to start dropping by late PM/early evening...

The bad news is the forecast for tomorrow AM shows a risk of periods of fog (300 metres).

Wonder why there are no Jet2 or Ryanair due out for the rest of the day? Unusual!

IfalldownbutIgetupagain · 24/01/2024 14:10

I think the wind has dropped a bit but the dog still looks like she may fly away every time I let her out in the garden.

Apparently they couldn’t fuel the Tenerife flight at Leeds as far too windy, so they boarded everyone and nipped into Stansted for petrol.

Yes it needs to! Our neighbours massive brolly ended up in our garden, broken, last night, and my husband actually drove the kids to school for only the second time ever (they’re teenagers and it’s only a 15 min walk). Wheelie bins all over the place.

On the plus side I have washing hung out on the line and it’s nearly dry.

mummyh2016 · 24/01/2024 14:24

@Stringagal ahh thank you! I did notice it took back off to TFS an hour or so later.

You must have pegged that up well! I think any I put out would end up miles away.
