Just watched the Belfast and Dublin do a head on with each other over LBA at 11000 and 12000 feet, seems a bit close!

IfalldownbutIgetupagain · 24/01/2024 09:45

Bucharest landed at Birmingham. Now a Dublin and a Belfast getting aerial tours of Leeds at 11/12000 ft

ConsistentlyPeeved · 24/01/2024 09:48

I thought that @Stringagal!

ConsistentlyPeeved · 24/01/2024 09:51

Singapore to Manchester looks like it's had a diversion, now currently over Derby.. no idea where it could be going.

Stringagal · 24/01/2024 09:52

ConsistentlyPeeved · 24/01/2024 09:48

I thought that @Stringagal!

It did look a bit close for comfort didn’t it!!

Now a Jet2 Leeds to EMA has trundled down the runway but failed to take off. Random!

Blueplaque · 24/01/2024 09:53

SIA to MAN SIA52 is squawking . Failed to land at MAN and now at 5500 ft heading towards EMA .

Thatnameistaken · 24/01/2024 09:54

Dublin to Leeds is on its fourth circuit over LBA, I wonder if they're waiting for clearance to land elsewhere.
Belfast to LBA looks like it's given up and is heading back west

Chersfrozenface · 24/01/2024 09:59

The Aer Lingus Belfast to LBA is descending near Liverpool. Could it be diverted there? An earlier Dublin was, I think.

ConsistentlyPeeved · 24/01/2024 10:01

Do we know what the squawk code is? Also is there a free app where we can see them? I'm on flight radar 24 but squawk codes come with a premium.

BasilParsley · 24/01/2024 10:02

SIA52 is squawking 7700. It's taking a v. strange path...

On the free FR24 the planes squawking turn red.

BasilParsley · 24/01/2024 10:03

Has it landed in a field?

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 24/01/2024 10:05

Has it landed in a field?

Or East Mids maybe?

BasilParsley · 24/01/2024 10:06

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 24/01/2024 10:05

if it has landed at EMA then the tracking is off...

QueenOfThorns · 24/01/2024 10:06

Have you seen the helicopter convention near Stafford? They’re all from a flying school, but there are LOADS of them!

It’s only at 700ft unless there’s a glitch

The tracking can be way off sometimes. I find especially when weather is iffy.

One day when I was watching about 6 planes in a row appeared to land a mile or two from BHX.

Stringagal · 24/01/2024 10:06

It's not moving at all on FR24

BasilParsley · 24/01/2024 10:08

It's disappeared from FR24 now with "live flight not found"

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 24/01/2024 10:12

According to Twitter it landed safe and sound at EMA

BasilParsley · 24/01/2024 10:13

That's good to know - thanks - must have been a glitch in the tracking.

The squawk code is visible on the free FR version, it’s highlighted in red after the flight number. This one is squawking 7700.

There are a fair few! I keep an eye on yhem and they haven't been up the last couple of days, unsurprisingly. No doubt making up for lost training time

Oh, and though they're labeled Defence Helicopter Flying School on FR, it's now called the No. 1 Flying Training School (1 FTS) since 28 Feb 2020, as I discovered recently - still based at RAF Shawbury not far from Shrewsbury.

Chersfrozenface · 24/01/2024 10:19

Oh, and the little Aer Lingus Belfast to LBA did land at Liverpool.
