Where is STN - EDI going now???

Dublin or Belfast.

I think Dublin with its height

I just thought this! It’s headed towards the Isle of Man?! God tonight is bonkers.

Crazy - i've never been happier to be tucked up in my own bed!!!

WUK2XX appears to be heading somewhere European ? She's over Straits of Dover at present, her nose pointing to France. {I'm new here}

It just aborted its landing at Gatwick after going very low and very fast, and changing their minds at about 500 ft high.

Ryanair planes seem to be diverting to Cologne, EasyJet ones seem to be going to Paris.

There was one that diverted to Amsterdam but can't remember the airline, if it was WizzAir that will likely be where this flight is headed now.

slore · 22/01/2024 01:48

Espargos to Gatwick making it's attempt now

Thank you, Slore.
She's over Dunkerque/Ypres now, so likely heading to Amsterdam as you say

Can anyone explain why Stansted-Edinburgh gets diverted to Dublin rather than going back to Stansted (which seems more logical to me)??

IceWhites · 22/01/2024 01:50

Lots of people on TikTok talking about their flights tonight. One on a flight from belfast to Manchester that got redirected to cologne. Crazy, wonder when this storm is suppose to calm?

Eek, Espargos just did another extremely high speed abrupt stop landing. But it made it

I

GrandTheftWalrus · 22/01/2024 01:50

I was gonna say something stupid like are flights all not meant to be landed by this time then remembered I came home from tenerife and landed at 2am in 2022 and the same this year when we go 🙈

Freezingfeetwarmheart · 22/01/2024 01:50

The Gran Canaria one might be having a go at Coventry or Birmingham, I'm rooting for them!

I wonder if it’s because some flights are still struggling to land at Stanstead?

Dublin seems calm for arrivals atm

fridaynight1 · 22/01/2024 01:51

It's bonkers tonight.
So the first Ryanair Stanstead to Edinburgh has given up and is heading to God knows where. And Ryanair in their best wisdom now has another Stanstead heading to Edinburgh. Why?

I’m not entirely sure but I read it’s to do with how many planes they need for the flights for the next day. So, how many they realistically need back at base. It also costs them money and Ground charge each time they try to land so being an Irish air carrier it’s probably cheaper for them to fly to Europe or Dublin and try and land.

Is that the 7700 one? Must be getting desperate to land.

EasyJet had a divert from Gatwick earlier which went to Birmingham so it could well be that again.

I don't think Coventry has passenger facilities any more does it?

Lunde · 22/01/2024 01:52

It is going to be chaos tomorrow

Imagine being on Shannon-Edinburgh and ending up in Cologne!

Diverted to Birmingham. Hopefully the eagle lands! 🤞

Yes Birmingham , it just updated in the flight info!

Lunde · 22/01/2024 01:53

It now says Gran Canaria diverted to Birmingham on FT

SurreyMumOfOne · 22/01/2024 01:53

Well at least their reward for an absolute ton of stacking is that they aren't in Paris or Lyon!

fridaynight1 · 22/01/2024 01:54

Poor Edinburgh airport, like me they should all be tucked up in bed by now.

IceWhites · 22/01/2024 01:54

What’s the code for the Gran Canaria one please?

Alot of people on a weekend away having to ring into work tomorrow/today. "Sorry I can't come in but I'm in Germany/Amsterdam/France" not sure how that'll go down

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 22/01/2024 01:54

Stanstead-edinburgh is descending so that confirms Dublin I think
