OMG at the quote I have just been given for breast implants & lift!

I mean, it was my first enquiry so wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. However, after doing some googling I was thinking around the £8-10k mark for a lift & implants (keeping in mind I DO NOT want big boobs, I suppose i’d go for the smallest implant possible as it’s just to fill my small saggy boobs post breastfeeding! I liked my original size (small B cup) but now they are just incredibly empty.

It seems companies such as Transform, Harley Medical Group etc charge much less than independent surgeons. I did indeed contact an independent surgeon and the STARTING cost is to be £25k+.

i just wasn’t expecting it to be that much but oh well. That isn’t doable… but I wonder how they really differ from surgeons employed by Transform, Harley Medical etc?

In need of advise?!

I don't mean to be rude or unsupportive, but I do think that it is better to accept aging and progressing to the next stage of life. Society is so fixated on everyone looking like a pert 20 year old, even if they are 50+. It makes people embark on surgery and all sorts of unnecessary beauty routines.

Be free. Live in your body as it is - there is nothing at all wrong with it.

Feelingcrappy2 · 18/01/2024 11:29

@Klcak not rude at all, it’s actually nice to hear these sorts of comments when you’re feeling a bit down about something.

I wish I had your perspective all the time, I do sometimes feel accepting of my new body, but I had my children relatively young and so I feel as though i’m just not over having perky boobs yet! Although at these prices it won’t be happening any way!

I would say that your estimate sounds correct, I would definitely get quotes from elsewhere as that quote seems very high. I haven’t got any breast either, my daughter who is 10 is starting to develop and mine don’t look much difference to be honest, infact I sometimes wear her bras when I don’t want to be wearing padded/ wired bras 🤣

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 18/01/2024 11:32

Nuffield health hospital in Tunbridge Wells quotes £7,100 as average price for a breast lift. I looked into it a couple of years ago before deciding against it for me, have just checked their website again, prices are up quite a lot from when I looked (was more like £5k then) but not the prices you are being quoted.

That is in a private hospital that can keep you in overnight if need be, when I was debating this I was advised to avoid the (much cheaper) day surgery only clinics who don’t have the resources on site to keep you in if things don’t go to plan, they are much more likely to send you home when they aren’t 100% happy.

I worked for many years in a major London private hospital - the surgeons that did facelifts, breasts, tweeks, etc were all NHS consultant plastic surgeons i.e. their day job was treating patients who needed reconstruction following cancer, burns, congenital abnormalities etc. In the main, such surgeons don't operate in the national chains.

That's not to say you can't have successful surgery in the chain clinics but they do use different people and have a different way of doing business. You see on MN reports of women having surgery and not meeting the surgeon until the day of admission!

Bluetrews25 · 18/01/2024 11:47

How long ago did you stop breastfeeding? They will fill out a bit more in time and will have less of the concave/ski slope down the top look about them eventually!
Padded uplift bras can make a big difference.

But at the same time, if there's something that could be improved, then why the hell not? I lost a lot of weight in my early 20s and it absolutely ruined my boobs. If I could have had them done, I would have. Luckily (haha, no) I regained the weight and my boobs are now wonderful again.

This. I’ve been exactly where you are, OP, and felt deep despair at how unattractive my spaniel’s ears tits were post-breastfeeding (which I’d done for the last time in my 40s, so you can imagine the state of them!). I’m excruciatingly embarassed to say I even spent a hundred quid on ‘breast-enhancing supplements’ (which obviously worked like a charm 🙄).

I was otherwise in the best shape of my life but couldn’t get past how sad and flaccid my poor boobs looked, but I couldn’t afford surgery and in the end relied on push up and padded bras which did the job - and retrospectively I’m glad I didn’t go down the enhancement route. Your body will keep changing according to diet, exercise, age, life stage and hormones.

Post menopause I’m carrying a bit more weight than I’m comfortable with, but the upside is my boobs are now properly filled out again and look great - it’s swings and roundabouts (or maybe swinging boobs to round ones 😉), and for me the healthiest way of dealing with all of this has been to embrace ageing and try to find acceptance and a genuine appreciation of my body, how it looks and what it does (and has done) for me and my children.

Of course there’s absolutely nothing wrong with getting surgery if you feel it would make you that much happier, but think how much other brilliant stuff you could do with £25k.

MorningSunshineSparkles · 18/01/2024 12:26

Didn’t you post yesterday saying you were quoted £7k?

MorningSunshineSparkles · 18/01/2024 12:27

And ask about how to get them done on the NHS?

Yep! She did.

cathyandclaire · 18/01/2024 12:28

I paid around £11k a couple of years ago at Bella Vou, they’re usually on the more expensive side.

Mine was more complex because he had to remove existing implants and capsules on both sides. I had the smallest size they had put back in, very pleased with the result.

I know the cost of everything has gone up but I’d be surprised if it had more than doubled.

BoohooWoohoo · 18/01/2024 12:30

I guess that’s why people gamble on procedures overseas.

forgivingfiggy · 18/01/2024 12:33

I believe implants need replaced eventually too. If it's something that really bothers you and affects your life disproportionately, you might consider autoaugmentation and lift.

But if it's a matter of looking for something to improve about your appearance, spend your money on something nicer.

MgW1 · 18/01/2024 12:34

Does anyone know how much for new boobs? My implants need replacing , think one has started to leak and have pain in my armpit. I'm on my 2nd set currently and had them done about 10 years ago so something to consider if your wanting them doing... they don't last 😏

VampireWeekday · 18/01/2024 12:38

I'd invest the money in some nice bras. I've very recently had this revelation. Before I associated nice with sexy, and have always been vaguely against dressing up for men in my day to day life. But recently (and post breastfeeding, like you, very different shape) I realised that nice doesn't have to mean sexy, it can mean your style and that gives you a nice natural shape. For me this means bright colourful push ups, but whatever your style is, there will be something that makes you feel great (and costs much less that 8k!)

I echo this.

Most women’s breasts do fill out again after some time.

If it’s been a couple of years or more then chances are that’s how your breasts will stay and it’s worth looking around for alternative solutions.

I am shocked at the cost though!

Hazil · 18/01/2024 12:43

I breastfed for two years and when I stopped my breasts were like saggy empty bags. Wonky, too. I considered surgery.

BUT they slowly tightened up and refilled with fatty tissue all by themselves. Now you can’t really tell from the breasts that I breastfed. So be very careful making any medical decisions too soon, your body takes a year or two to recover from birth and breastfeeding but it DOES recover.

My boobs never regained their shape after breastfeeding. I’m quite thin though so maybe that’s why. I just wear good bras. The thought of filling my body with foreign objects is not appealing.

Feelingcrappy2 · 18/01/2024 12:50

@MorningSunshineSparkles Did I?!

Umm, I don't think for most women the primary motivation for cosmetic surgery is for men's enjoyment

Was going to say this too

Marchintospring · 18/01/2024 12:52

I'm reading Hags by Victoria Smith as recommended on here. Its a great overview of why women's bodies young to be acceptable. Its eye opening.

Who are breasts for?
Everyone apparently. Appealing to the male, look good in clothes, feeding your babies? It's asking too much that women's chests have to be all those things all the time regardless of stage of life.
Men aren't scared of aging in the same way because society is based on their needs. And their bodies just go from young to old. Ours transition from periods to gestation to lactation to menopause.

Also consider you will need to replace implants at some point. Buck the system sister!

ianshe · 18/01/2024 12:53

Interestingly enough I got my breasts done post-baby through one of the chains at the time (My Breast), around 16 years ago for under £5000. I have always been so pleased with them, three of my close friends also went to him after seeing mine but he has stopped working for any chains now and actually quoted another friend of mine 28k last year as part of his private practise.

😬😬
