OMG at the quote I have just been given for breast implants & lift!

I mean, it was my first enquiry so wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. However, after doing some googling I was thinking around the £8-10k mark for a lift & implants (keeping in mind I DO NOT want big boobs, I suppose i’d go for the smallest implant possible as it’s just to fill my small saggy boobs post breastfeeding! I liked my original size (small B cup) but now they are just incredibly empty.

It seems companies such as Transform, Harley Medical Group etc charge much less than independent surgeons. I did indeed contact an independent surgeon and the STARTING cost is to be £25k+.

i just wasn’t expecting it to be that much but oh well. That isn’t doable… but I wonder how they really differ from surgeons employed by Transform, Harley Medical etc?

In need of advise?!

25£??

Doing it in a private clinic in Switzerland would be cheaper than this. (Speaking from experience…)
but if that’s the amount he’s quoting you’ll simply have to find somebody else…

InAMess2023 · 18/01/2024 16:35

@Bambooshoot thank you ☺️ I absolutely love them and still think they look fairly natural especially with a bra on. I'm pushing 40 so I'll definitely take that! Lost too much weight after a brutal breakup... the weight came back but the boobs did not!

ToughLoveLDN · 18/01/2024 16:41

I went for a quote with Dr Dan around 6 years ago and it was £11k at that time... So it sounds like it could be right

Bluetrews25 · 18/01/2024 11:47

How long ago did you stop breastfeeding? They will fill out a bit more in time and will have less of the concave/ski slope down the top look about them eventually!
Padded uplift bras can make a big difference.

How long does this take?? Asking for a friend 😂

Josette77 · 18/01/2024 16:41

I've had friends remove them because of breast implant illness so it's worth researching that.

Also they need to be replaced every 10 years, so you might want to keep that in mind too.

ianshe · 18/01/2024 16:55

It's a myth that modern implants have to be changed every 10 years. Ask the surgeon, it depends on what type they use but many now come with a lifetime warranty against rupture and capsular contracture.

InAMess2023 · 18/01/2024 17:03

@ianshe mine have a lifetime warranty... I have it in my drawer 🤣 I'll probably get them replaced eventually but only as I reckon I'll need a full uplift in a few years

LogicVoid · 18/01/2024 17:05

4 months post-breast feeding is a very short time to be thinking about surgery! Honestly, give it at least a year or 18 months before any big decisions. I breast fed four babies over a ten year period, and after stopping each time you wouldn't have known I had boobs 😮However - after a year or two, they gradually reappeared again, 34B.

Peterrabbitcandoone · 18/01/2024 17:05

Hi
I recently had a quote for breast augmentation and lipo to feather them in so they looked natural and my quote was 12k which included all after care. My surgeon was top 5 in the country. We are home counties so maybe that's why cheaper. I had some superb advice from hive on mumsnet.
Good luck if you choose to proceed.

X

Yup my implants also have a lifetime warranty. They need replacing because of aesthetics not failure of the implant.

Ponderingwindow · 18/01/2024 17:08

you shouldn’t have sticker shock over the surgeon’s quote. You should be questioning the sanity of people who book discount surgery.

if body modification is really the solution to your happiness, save up, research doctors, and get the best, safest, work done possible.

Singingasong · 18/01/2024 17:12

Ask your gp which surgeon in your area they would recommend.

What a waste of a GP’s time.

taybert · 18/01/2024 17:18

I used to get the folding boob thing, plunge bras aren’t good in this scenario but a padded balconette gives a MUCH better shape (thanks mumsnet 2015 for that tip) It dawned on me recently that they’ve more or less gone back to how they were now and have been for a while. They’re a bit smaller but then I’m a bit thinner but they don’t fold up any more and I can wear plunge bras again. Why not get a really good bra fitting and some new bras that suit your current shape. Then you can put some money each month for a while, then at the end if you’re still not happy you can get them done and if you are you can have some other sort of lovely treat like a holiday or something.

I don't mean to be rude or unsupportive, but I do think that it is better to accept aging and progressing to the next stage of life. Society is so fixated on everyone looking like a pert 20 year old, even if they are 50+. It makes people embark on surgery and all sorts of unnecessary beauty routines.

Be free. Live in your body as it is - there is nothing at all wrong with it.

This!!

Singingasong · 18/01/2024 17:21

I know three women who have had breast implants and had a referral via their gp first. Why wouldn’t a gp suggest a particular surgeon?

taybert · 18/01/2024 17:26

@Singingasong because if a GP is consulting a woman who wants to discuss a cosmetic procedure (not NHS work) then that means they aren’t seeing a poorly child or visiting a palliative care patient or even just dealing with a sore knee (NHS work)

Precisely and I say that as someone with implants. It’s a cosmetic procedure, GP’s are overran. I also highly doubt they’d recommend surgeons unless it was related to another disorder like depression or something.

Singingasong · 18/01/2024 17:47

In current times post covid it is hard to see a gp for anything, granted, but the women I know who had breast implants several years ago all had a referral and the surgery on the NHS. Of course gps know who the best surgeons and consultants are.

Singingasong · 18/01/2024 17:48

And yes the women felt the state of their breasts affected their mental health.

taybert · 18/01/2024 17:53

Implants haven’t been easily available on the NHS for many years, even at their peak they weren’t that common. GPs might have surgeon mates or have heard of someone who does a good job on the grapevine but it’s certainly not within their scope to be making recommendations for private cosmetic procedures. It’s not a good use of GP time and it’s not something that’s in their contract to do and when GPs do work that isn’t in their contract, work that they should be doing doesn’t get done.

I’m a GP. The OP is doing exactly the right thing by keeping this in the private sector.

ooooohnoooooo · 18/01/2024 18:00

A friend of mine is just having her implants removed as one of them burst 😫😞. They are risky things. She's now having them taken out and a loft done to deal with the stretched skin. Pretty grim.

That was with a reputable surgeon.

LlynTegid · 18/01/2024 18:02

I agree with @mumyes

If the implants stretched the skin then she had a size increase. The OP doesn't want bigger boobs. She wants the already stretched skin filled out again

FashionDave · 18/01/2024 18:07

@PumpkinsAndCoconuts could you share the name of the clinic in Switzerland? Would you recommend it?
