OMG at the quote I have just been given for breast implants & lift!

I mean, it was my first enquiry so wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. However, after doing some googling I was thinking around the £8-10k mark for a lift & implants (keeping in mind I DO NOT want big boobs, I suppose i’d go for the smallest implant possible as it’s just to fill my small saggy boobs post breastfeeding! I liked my original size (small B cup) but now they are just incredibly empty.

It seems companies such as Transform, Harley Medical Group etc charge much less than independent surgeons. I did indeed contact an independent surgeon and the STARTING cost is to be £25k+.

i just wasn’t expecting it to be that much but oh well. That isn’t doable… but I wonder how they really differ from surgeons employed by Transform, Harley Medical etc?

In need of advise?!

I had a reduction and it only cost £8000. Look elsewhere.

Abeona · 18/01/2024 13:14

I'm another who'd say that learning to love your natural body is better for your mind and body in the long run than throwing money at what you think is the problem. In your shoes I might invest in a personal trainer or a gym membership for a while to see if toning up and feeling better about my whole body lifted the desire to have major surgery. Or maybe a few sessions with a therapist to see if you can think about your breasts a bit differently. They've done fabulous work and they bear the signs of wear and tear that come with that. In an ideal world people would celebrate saggy breasts and stretch marks as a sign of the battle scars that most of us acquire when we have children.

I'm told by a friend who has been seeking private weight-loss surgery that prices have gone through the roof because now the NHS is back in full swing and trying to deal with the backlog of cases that built up during lockdown surgeons are busier in the NHS. A lot of NHS cases are being filtered into the private hospitals. (The NHS paid the bills but surgeons work in private facilities at private rates). As a result a lot of surgeons who do private work are working at full capacity anyway. If they only have space for one or two extra private cases of their own a month, they'd prefer some idiot poor person able and willing to pay £25k for a few hours of their time than someone who's only able to pay £7k.

PictureFrameWindow · 18/01/2024 13:16

Four months is no time! You should give it more like two years before deciding. Mine changed a lot in this time period.

MorrisZapp · 18/01/2024 13:17

I had a breast reduction last year with a highly qualified surgeon here in Scotland, it cost 8k including all follow up (there was lots), meds, surgical bra and overnight in hospital.

25k is laughable.

CandyLeBonBon · 18/01/2024 13:01

How long should did you stop breastfeeding? Mine were quite deflated for quite a years but plumped up again maybe 6 years after I stopped

Mine took 6 years post stopping breastfeeding to go back to normal too. I'd been seriously considering surgery because I hated not feeling like 'myself' anymore, I'm so glad now that I didn't.

4 months is nothing OP, your body is still recovering. There is nothing wrong with opting for surgery if that's what you want, but your body has been through a hell of a lot, growing and then feeding a baby, I think it would be better to give it some time and see how things settle down first.

Mynewnameis · 18/01/2024 13:18

My boobs did fill up again after breast feeding became a distant memory. Probably because I gained weight in my 40s I'm now trying to shift.

OrlandointheWilderness · 18/01/2024 13:19

I would be very wary of any surgeon who agreed to this just 4 months after BF. They are still undergoing change and it takes time for them to settle back. Took mine about 18 months before they were back to normal.

Feelingcrappy2 · 18/01/2024 13:19

Ok definitely willing to give it some time, I think I’ve suddenly felt the need to rush into it but this thread is changing my thinking.

In terms of exercise (not really in relation to boobs here) but for somebody who has never exercised, would reformer pilates be too hard for a complete beginner with zero core strength? I’d actually love to join a gym but I don’t have a clue what the machines are for and I’d get major gym anxiety!

Hallmark1234 · 18/01/2024 13:20

I know how you feel OP, as I felt exactly the same c.40 years ago after having 2 quite close together. My boobs were much smaller and 'empty' and I was quite self conscious of them and can remember thinking of having an enlargement, however I didn't have the money available.

I'm so glad I didn't, as gradually over time they did fill out again, once I started to gain a bit more weight.

Anonandonwego · 18/01/2024 13:20

Pilates would be perfect to regain your core, as long as you've had the go-ahead from your GP after your 6 week check to go back to normal, sign up and enjoy that class!

Ah i see it's been deleted now, I'll get off my soapbox 😂 thanks Mn

Actually i am glad you posted because I was wondering what had been deleted!

OP- I bet you are beautiful. And yes maybe wait a bit to see if the breasts fill out again. (And I rather like the idea of spending that amount of money on a rocking wardrobe instead!).

confusedaboutclothes · 18/01/2024 13:23

I know it’s more difficult logistically as you can’t go and see the clinic etc but i’ve heard amazing stories from people going abroad.
It sounds very odd but Thailand has some of the best reviews for surgery, i’ve put that down to the fact that many of the nationals have surgery for one reason or another 🙄
I think even with the cost of the 2 week break etc then it’s significantly lower - of course you have the annoyance of not being able to get back easily but if you research it i’m sure they get around this somehow - surely they have to?

LindaDawn · 18/01/2024 13:26

MollyRover · 18/01/2024 12:52

Was going to say this too

This applied to me too. Probably about a year or two later (can’t remember exactly) my breasts filled out again, back to original size.

Tuelanak · 18/01/2024 13:27

My already small breast went super flat when I stopped breastfeeding my baby. It took a few months but it's getting back to normal (with a bit extra even)

Ariela · 18/01/2024 13:29

Take yourself off to a decent bra shop and get some new bras.
That alone will make a big difference.
Then wait it out, mine looked fabulous after a year or two, and still do - they're bigger & fuller but I am a little heavier than pre-babies. But I do need a decent bra.

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 18/01/2024 13:30

That sounds well over the top
I am looking at breast reduction. That has gone up from £6.5k to about £9.5k in the last couple of years and sounds more complex than yours.

Lovemydaxie · 18/01/2024 13:30

The private hospital that I work at in Essex, the price for augmentation and uplift is just over 10,000. Contact the private patient enquiry team at the private hospitals you are interested in for their package prices, rather than direct to the surgeon in the first instance. They will then tell you which surgeons at their hospital work using the packages. Not all do, hence the massive difference in cost. The package usually includes post op care and cover for any problems within a period following the surgery. A much better deal I think.

There are trains to Scotland and Premier Inns here, but we don't make anyone stay for two weeks 😂

janfebmarchapril · 18/01/2024 13:30

That's insane I wouldn't have expected that

nottaotter · 18/01/2024 13:41

I would expect around 8 - 10 k, was it a Harley street place you went to?

Most decent cosmetic surgeons also do NHS work and operate privately out of Nuffield clinics or similar.

Where about in the UK are you?

MsPossibly · 18/01/2024 13:41

3 years on from finshing breastfeeding two children I really like my B cups... Have gone from A-C-B over that time - and right now they're pretty pert for nearly 40, having gone from looking like empty socks!

Meadowfinch · 18/01/2024 13:51

Give yourself some time, boobs reshape with time.

Book yourself some personal trainer sessions, and rethink after a year. Hopefully you can avoid having to submit to a scalpel. No cost and much less risk. And no scars !

InAMess2023 · 18/01/2024 13:54

Apologies I haven't RTFT but I had a mini/donut uplift and implants two years ago with MYA and I paid £6,500. My surgeon was Mr Molajo but he has moved on now - still does private practice via RealSelf though. My friend also went with MYA around the same time and had a full uplift and implants and she paid £8500.

Worth every single penny by the way!

JonnyTheDogFacedBoy · 18/01/2024 13:58

That seems very steep. I recently paid around £27k for circumferential tummy tuck with muscle repair, lipo to flanks, plus a breast lift and implants. Very happy with the results and Aftercare. I used Amir Nakhedjavani at Bella Vou in Tunbridge Wells. If you're south east based, I'd highly recommend.

Coldupnorth7 · 18/01/2024 13:59

I'm both fat and did a fair bit of weightlifting in my 40's. My boobs look better now than they ever did and the mammogram tech commented on muscle mass.

You wouldn't want my bum or tummy...but maybe try some proper lifting, will benefit your bones too.
