Do you wash your hands after a wee in the night?

It’s the middle of the night and you’re up for a wee. (Assume you’ve just dabbed yourself dry with loo roll, no other bodily fluids present!) Do you do a full 30 second soap and water hand wash vs after? A quick water-only rinse, and pat dry? Not wash at all and go straight back to bed? Something else completely?

I’ve often wondered what others do but too afraid to ask in real life 🫢

No, and I don’t flush. I go about 4 times at night and am asleep again in seconds! My husband doesn’t even get out of bed to wee at night and certainly doesn’t wash his hands (work that one out 😱) We don’t have a disease ridden bed or a skin complaint either.

Sorry this made me laugh. It’s as though your husband wees in the bed!

Heaven forbid - because sex does not involve any exchange in any bodily fluids whatsoever….

Body fluids fine, dirty, germy hands no thanks.

tinkerbellvspredator · 15/01/2024 21:59

Nope

loudbatperson · 15/01/2024 21:59

I wash and moisturise.

I tend to rub my face when I wake up, I have no intention of doing that with toilet hands.

Winnipeggy · 15/01/2024 22:00

I hope the non washers aren't having sex after

Do you understand what sex is?

So does he pee in a bottle or something? I don’t understand

Vivi0 · 15/01/2024 22:00

Nope, absolutely not.

I don’t turn the light on, wash my hands or flush. If I need to use the bathroom, I make it as quick as possible - I’m always half sleeping and don’t want to wake myself, or anyone else,
up.

Delatron · 15/01/2024 22:01

How germy can they get from a bit of toilet paper? I’d say that’s the least of your worries. I mean if you accidentally piss all over your hands then fine. Otherwise wee, wipe with paper. No pee on hands

Do you have to sleep in your husbands piss? I'm confused 😂

Sdpbody · 15/01/2024 22:01

No! Not unless a bit of hidden wee comes out when I'm wiping and then I will 😂

43ontherocksporfavor · 15/01/2024 22:01

No because I don’t flush or put the light on so no contamination. Hand has contact with folded paper only. 😬

TempleOfBloom · 15/01/2024 22:02

Nope.

I don’t get wee on my hands, I don’t flush (for noise and environmental reasons) so don’t touch potentially germy surfaces, so no.

Have a good hand wash after first wee in the morning before I head to the kitchen to make coffee.

That makes me wonder - if the people who wash their hands despite having touched nothing but loo roll have to leap out of bed for a scrub should their hands happen to encounter genitals in bed?ConfusedGrin

RedStripeypillow · 15/01/2024 22:03

Presuming you doesn't flush the loo or have contact with wee as you use enough paper to wipe, what germs are you coming into contact with?

Delatron · 15/01/2024 22:03

What fun.

This is the new ‘toilet brush/no toilet brush. Shoes off in the house/ shoes on.

So dividing..

Great bit of advertising on this thread!

How germy can they get from a bit of toilet paper?

But you touch the toilet seat lid to open it before you pee. That lid will have germs on it from the water spray when you last flushed.

43ontherocksporfavor · 15/01/2024 22:04

I don’t touch the lid, it’s always up, the seat is always down.

Papillon23 · 15/01/2024 22:04

Gosh I have always thought I had quite low standards of hygiene but I always wash my hands whenever I use the loo, no matter the circumstances.

RedStripeypillow · 15/01/2024 22:04

Not of you don't close the lid

swedishmom24 · 15/01/2024 22:04

I had no idea people wouldn't wash their hands. I wash them with soap every time, and I'd say I'm very relaxed about hygiene standards generally.

honeyfox · 15/01/2024 22:04

Jesus Christ no, I might wake myself up.

DH is a microbiologist and I don't think he does either.

Gettingfedupgrrrr · 15/01/2024 22:05

Wash my hands every single time. Feel ick otherwise.

It’s my en-suite. The lid is not down. I’m sure that’s wrong in Mumsnet world too.

MysweetAudrina · 15/01/2024 22:05

No and I also suck my thumb. My body, my germs. The dog licks her fanny on my bed, the other dog sometimes has a lick of it too. They sometimes lick my hand. I like germs.
