Do you wash your hands after a wee in the night?

It’s the middle of the night and you’re up for a wee. (Assume you’ve just dabbed yourself dry with loo roll, no other bodily fluids present!) Do you do a full 30 second soap and water hand wash vs after? A quick water-only rinse, and pat dry? Not wash at all and go straight back to bed? Something else completely?

I’ve often wondered what others do but too afraid to ask in real life 🫢

Do people not think the foreskin or no foreskin issue is similar to men critiquing the size of labia?

Foreskin doesn't mean dirty and smelly. It's kinda sad to think you could meet someone great and dump them over foreskin .

@SandyWaves

Its shocking. Its natural to wash your hands after going to the loo, no?!!!! Obviously not. Makes me feel quite sick. I hope they don't work with food.

WTF? Who is 'working with food' after a wee in the night Confused

The lengths people will go to in order to show disgust is hilarious!

My brother years ago said he can never buy an ice cream cone from an ice cream van in case the bloke handling the cone has had his hands down his tracksuit bottoms scratching his balls.

That thought has never left me.

I was happy to see a paper condom~like device used on ice cream cones in recent years- but then... people who handle food and scratch their earhole and then make you a cheese bap..

Ah well, I suppose that's why we have immune systems.

Well shock horror,I only ever wash my hands if changing ST ,public loo or have had poo/ pissed on hand ! Am now quite old and have survived along with the family .

PuffinJilly · 17/01/2024 00:28

I just stagger half asleep in the dark to the loo, have a wee, wipe, flush then back to bed.
Loo lid is always up and ready on a night.
I like my sleep more than I like worrying about germs.
I'm never poorly, I can't remember the last time I had an upset stomach, it's that long ago and I'm almost a pensioner.

But the same hands that wipe your ass, flush the same toilet as when you pee. So what's the point?

Then the dirty and clean hands both touch the doorknob. I don't get how this isn't gross?

There’s another thread repeated regularly about pants/no pants in bed at night. Those saying getting into bed with unwashed (but no contact with pee) hands is disgusting - are you also washing your arse (contact with pee) before getting back into bed if you don’t wear anything? Because the whole worry about hand germ transfer is a bit moot if you aren’t, isn’t it?

MoonlightMemories · 18/01/2024 12:12

Of course I always wash my hands after being to the loo, regardless of what's been done and what time it is. Anything else is just rather gross, in my opinion.

What do people who say ‘oooo germs’ think is going to happen from some wee germs? Genuinely? Has anyone ever been ill from having wee germs on their hand at 3am?

can anyone give me a compelling answer? Cos at the moment I can’t see the point in it unless I’ve pissed all over my hands (which I don’t tend to do)

I agree. I’m massively bothered by other people’s germs as there’s an illness risk there.

But my own germs? Yes, if I do piss on my hands in the night (which has never happened) then all that will happen is a bit of wee gets on the bedding I guess and then wash hands in morning. Bedding gets washed weekly. Given I’ve never pissed on my hands I can’t get worked up…

Yes, actually.
I have always used a hand-held bidet to rinse my genitals with water after a wee or poop, as well as wiping.
I would never go to bed without washing my private areas/arse. Hence, I can’t imagine not washing my hands after a pee.

Fair enough then. I’m pretty sure that’s not common in the U.K. though.

Roselilly36 · 18/01/2024 18:09

Always wash my hands.

PeskyPotato · 18/01/2024 18:14

Nope.

Petrine · 18/01/2024 18:17

No. Straight back to bed.

Haha you’re right. I’m not originally from the UK, although, I was brought up here. It is second nature to us, to use water as well as toilet paper, to clean up after a pee/poop.

No lights, no flush and no taps. DH is the same.
The cat sleeps on our bed and licks her arse and later licks us. One big happy family!

Swap a DH for a second cat, and you've just described my situation! 😄
