Do you wash your hands after a wee in the night?

It’s the middle of the night and you’re up for a wee. (Assume you’ve just dabbed yourself dry with loo roll, no other bodily fluids present!) Do you do a full 30 second soap and water hand wash vs after? A quick water-only rinse, and pat dry? Not wash at all and go straight back to bed? Something else completely?

I’ve often wondered what others do but too afraid to ask in real life 🫢

In the night, never.

During the day, always

Nannyfannybanny · 16/01/2024 09:33

Posts saying wash your hands being "more psychology". I was nursing over 40 years,we did actually have "hand washing police". Both on annual training updates and random ward visits by occupation health. Not flushing at home, bathroom is beside bedroom,no one is going to be waking anyone else up!!

Jesus wept, it’s a midnight pee you’ve had, not a golden shower . Absolute madness.

🤣🤣🤣

@SandyWaves

Its shocking. Its natural to wash your hands after going to the loo, no?!!!! Obviously not. Makes me feel quite sick. I hope they don't work with food.

WTF? Who is 'working with food' after a wee in the night Confused

The lengths people will go to in order to show disgust is hilarious!

TooMuchPinkyPonkJuice · 16/01/2024 08:18

Yes. I have a toddler to deal with in the night with often involves stroking her face or finding her dummy, I don't want pissy hands rubbed on my face I'm sure she doesn't either.

Why are your hands pissy?

cardibach · 16/01/2024 12:00

Josette77 · 16/01/2024 00:09

So none of you close the toilet lid? If you flush with it open fecal particles fly everywhere.

I never put my purse or outside clothes on my bed.

I don't scratch my vulva but if I did I would wash my hands after.

As for sex yes partner and I shower before hand.

I'm not letting anyone go down on me if it's not clean, and I want my partners vulva clean too. If I'm spending a lot of time down there I want it be fresh and clean.

Only if there’s fecal matter in the toilet, presumably?

Hermittrismegistus · 15/01/2024 23:29

No… but I also don’t make dh wash his cock before I put it in my mouth

Now that is truly disgusting.

Maybe that poster's husband has been circumcised. DH was circumcised at 21 (voluntarily - as his foreskin was tight,) and he has always washed his cock before sex, but he doesn't need to as it's never dirty.

I had several men with a foreskin before him and they always stank. Sometimes vile, sometimes just funky and odd. I never gave BJs because of this. After being with a man with no foreskin I could never go back. If me and DH split, and I met another man, if he had a foreskin, I could never have sex with him. Just a personal preference.

What has any of this got to do with hand washing in the night?

HRTQueen · 16/01/2024 12:24

Probably not

I very rarely wake up in the night to pee

AdoraBell · 16/01/2024 12:26

Yes. DH doesn’t 🤢 because he sleep walks and doesn’t know that he’s used the loo 🤯

So jealous and looking at your user name I’m wondering if that’s the key (HRT). To derail the thread further from pissy foreskin…

Delatron It may help (the HRT) but I never have think I’m lucky but I avoid coughing if I can now 😭

Jeez Louise! 🤣

Men can be very clean with a foreskin - my Ex husband was really clean- and was a thorough willy washer. 🧼🚿

starfishmummy · 16/01/2024 12:44

"Are you really saying it's ok to use the bathroom then touch something that will be inserted into a child's mouth?"

@TooMuchPinkyPonkJuice is this your first child? They're going to be putting much worse in their own mouths before long. (If not already)

Yeah I always have got up in the night but now I’m at about 4/5 times 😭

What's going to be on the sheets? I use plenty of paper when I need a wee in the night, and no urine reaches my fingers.

There's some entirely irrational paranoia in this thread.

I like to get up first then wee, there seems to be a lot of humour bypass on this thread.

Nannyfannybanny · 16/01/2024 15:25

Urine is not sterile, that's a myth.. . there are some seriously revolting posts on here, now sure how many are true. Interesting, meeting a new bloke, you have to demand he's been circumcised, that's a whole new level. It used to be the norm in the 50s.

43ontherocksporfavor · 16/01/2024 16:18

@SweetBirdsong Would hate a partner to have his a circumcised one!

Raqu15 · 16/01/2024 16:37

No. In the day yes.

Sapphire387 · 16/01/2024 16:47

This thread is getting derailed. Personally I think sex feels nicer when the man has a foreskin. I think it's a bit nicer to wash before sex, but we don't always.

I always wash my hands after having a wee in the night - it's an ingrained habit. I don't think it wakes me up - I'm already awake if I've had to get up and get to the bathroom. I don't really know why people wouldn't!

ChronicallyConfused · 16/01/2024 17:45

I kind of thought the "wee before I get up" pp was a regional turn of phrase, a lot of people near me use "get up" to mean getting dressed and going downstairs and starting the day.

The pp may not have realised the people joking about her pissing the bed were only pretending to think she pissed in bed before getting out of it and with the way some posters have been a bit OTT with the food prep comments I think it's more the humour has been misunderstood and it was taken as snidey dig rather than it humour being bypassed.

Sandals12 · 16/01/2024 21:25

CalmerChameleons · 16/01/2024 07:23

But why is it different at night? By that token it's fine not to bother during the day either?

Because you are going about your business after during the day, like eating, cooking etc. Involving other people.

43ontherocksporfavor · 16/01/2024 21:29

And touching the flush etc In the night as most have said, no contact is made with anything germy.
