Do you wash your hands after a wee in the night?

It’s the middle of the night and you’re up for a wee. (Assume you’ve just dabbed yourself dry with loo roll, no other bodily fluids present!) Do you do a full 30 second soap and water hand wash vs after? A quick water-only rinse, and pat dry? Not wash at all and go straight back to bed? Something else completely?

I’ve often wondered what others do but too afraid to ask in real life 🫢

So none of you close the toilet lid? If you flush with it open fecal particles fly everywhere.

I never put my purse or outside clothes on my bed.

I don't scratch my vulva but if I did I would wash my hands after.

As for sex yes partner and I shower before hand.

I'm not letting anyone go down on me if it's not clean, and I want my partners vulva clean too. If I'm spending a lot of time down there I want it be fresh and clean.

Anonymouse2019 · 16/01/2024 00:11

I don't. Quick wee and straight back to bed, then another wee when getting up in the morning and wash hands then.

Not only is our water ice cold when it comes out of our bathroom tap even on the hottest setting (until it eventually warms up) and the icy blast would wake me up much more, I also don't close the bathroom door in the night because when the door is closed properly, it makes a loud click which is more than loud enough to wake my two very young children.

Lastly, I sleep like crap anyway so avoid any reason to wake myself up any more than normal.

Icantbedoingwithit · 16/01/2024 00:12

Jesus wept, it’s a midnight pee you’ve had, not a golden shower . Absolute madness.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 16/01/2024 00:12

Wash with soap and water, thoroughly. Can't imagine not but had an ex who I knew didn't wash hands and it was disgusting and slovenly.

starfishmummy · 16/01/2024 00:13

I always wear surgical type gloves when I wee. My hands remain clean

thebestinterest · 16/01/2024 00:14

YES. I breastfeed, so I wash my hands incessantly.

I am crying with laughter at this thread

No I don't because it wakes me up but I 100% do in the morning.

Hehe. It's fucking nuts. The 'must always shower before sex' rules must also mean a lot of folk have never had impromptu sex.

Who knew.

Sorry, but what's the connection there?

Do you have milk producing Spidey hands?

Giggorata · 16/01/2024 00:18

I wash hands as normal, also flush the loo as normal.

Honestly, my libido would be lost between having the urge and getting showered ready for the event.

I'm discovering that other people's sex lives aren't like mine was. I don't think we ever planned sex, it was virtually always spontaneous for us. And no, we didn't generally shower at night (though I might well have had a nice bath half the nights)

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/01/2024 00:19

When DD was a baby, she was clamped to me for hours on end, cluster feeding. I went to the bog for a wee on more than one occasion with her attached to me. Neither of us have suffered any ill effects.

emilysquest · 16/01/2024 00:19

God I thought I was a bit germophobic, I am one of those people who always carried hand sanitiser long before Covid and who still has a sanitiser pump in the hallway to this day. But this thread is crazy! Washing hands with soap and water after a night time wee? What do you think will happen if you don't?

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 16/01/2024 00:21

I mean theoretically if you change sheets every day

I'm going to regret asking this - but does anyone change their sheets everyday?

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 16/01/2024 00:26

saraclara · 15/01/2024 23:52

That 30 seconds and the sensation of water on my hands would wake me up completely. Then the rest of the night is a lost cause, sleep wise.

I'm of an age where the nightly pee is a necessity. I'm also of the age where sleep is much harder to come by. And sorry, sleep is my priority.

On the "only 30 seconds" in my house, and others have said this, you can add in at least another 30 seconds waiting for hot water. Or wash in cold water - either way that's me awake.

FancyJapflack · 16/01/2024 00:29

No 😄

waltzingparrot · 16/01/2024 00:32

I use a hand gel pump for midnight visits.

TheNestedIf · 16/01/2024 00:33

Of course. I'll have touched all sorts of things by morning. Doorhandles, bedclothes, pyjamas, face, hair, etc. The idea of not doing it makes my skin crawl.

I'm lucky if mine get changed once a year!! I do cover them with plastic though so I can give them a quick wipe down if necessary.

I flush and wash my hands as normal. Don't want toilet germs on my sheets Grin

🤣 Definitely flush and thoroughly wash hands too. 🤥
Actually rinse, and wash properly when I wake up.

Were you wiping with your tit?

MCOut · 16/01/2024 00:37

Yes, flush, soap and water. This is just basic hygiene and you can just moisturise after. It takes literally less than a minute to do this.

Which, as many of us have said, is a minute that will ensure that we don't get any more sleep that night.

The sensory effect of water on the hands (and presumably putting the light on) is an 'on switch' to the body, and for anyone with sleep issues, that's a big problem. Especially if you need to go every night, add I now do.

tamade · 16/01/2024 00:50

Don't wash 'em. Not because I am worried it will wake me up, but because I really GAF.

Like most normal people
