Do you wash your hands after a wee in the night?

It’s the middle of the night and you’re up for a wee. (Assume you’ve just dabbed yourself dry with loo roll, no other bodily fluids present!) Do you do a full 30 second soap and water hand wash vs after? A quick water-only rinse, and pat dry? Not wash at all and go straight back to bed? Something else completely?

I’ve often wondered what others do but too afraid to ask in real life 🫢

No… but I also don’t make dh wash his cock before I put it in my mouth

Now that is truly disgusting.

Do you steep the penis in Milton before any shenanigans?

Eeek imagine rubbing the sleep out of your eyes in the morning 😟 Yes, of course I wash my hands

There. Is. No. Wee. On my. Hands

Good grief, some of you must spray it all over the place or pride yourself on only using a single sheet of paper.

usernother · 15/01/2024 23:34

@saraclara Honestly, I thought mumsnetters were a fairly educated bunch, but the ignorance and naivety on this thread is absolutely barking mad. It seems that most people haven't progressed beyond being eight years old and going "wee?! Ewwwwww!" 😝

I agree. The fear of urine on Mumsnet is mad.

Wash hands, use bidet. Disinfect and scrub toilet (by hand, no toilet brush here!) and clean bidet, then rewash hands. Change underwear. Put dirty underwear in washing machine on hot wash. Or if very tired, double bagged and in special bin to wash in the morning. Wash hands. Use hand sanitiser. Wash hands again.
Why wouldn't you?

😂😂😂What! You don't mention taking your underwear out of the packaging - do you mean to say you wash and reuse underwear?

Snowflakesonhisnose · 15/01/2024 23:37

I autoclave myself when I get up each morning. But then doesn't everyone....

ronoi · 15/01/2024 23:39

Quite. I think some people need lessons in how to wipe after a wee if they can't do it without getting pee on their hands

Good grief, some of you must spray it all over the place or pride yourself on only using a single sheet of paper.

I think they are the same posters on the 'how much toilet roll do you use?' threads who go through one every fortnight!!

Fullfatandfortyplus · 15/01/2024 23:39

Nope. 100 percent no. In and out to the en-suite in the dark, no flush either and back to sleep in seconds. Wouldn’t want to risk waking myself up properly, go once or twice every night forever and never washed and never had any ill effects.

Spicybeanburger · 15/01/2024 23:42

I'm actually more shocked I've read more than one pp sucks their thumb! Anyway each to their own.

ToffeeCrumble · 15/01/2024 23:43

Yes, I always wash my hands after going to the toilet.

Salome61 · 15/01/2024 23:44

I feel embarrassed. I never wash my hands in the night. When I visited my friend at Christmas, I only checked the flushing rules!

larkstar · 15/01/2024 23:46

yes

Hermittrismegistus · 15/01/2024 23:46

How filthy is the penis you suck that it needs bleach? Confused

It's perfectly normal to wash before sex acts. Peope will become sweaty throughout the day and will have drops of pee on them.

Moveoverdarlin · 15/01/2024 23:47

Nope. Don’t wash hands, don’t flush, don’t put light on, don’t touch the lid as it just stays up.

Iatethelastrolo · 15/01/2024 23:49

It only takes 30 odd seconds to wash your hands. Hardly a big inconvenience.

That 30 seconds and the sensation of water on my hands would wake me up completely. Then the rest of the night is a lost cause, sleep wise.

I'm of an age where the nightly pee is a necessity. I'm also of the age where sleep is much harder to come by. And sorry, sleep is my priority.

it's extremely unhygienic to not wash hands after weeing (whatever the time of day). no matter the effort, small particles of urine will almost inevitably end up on hands... then transferred to bedsheets and other parts of the body eg. face unless you literally don't move in your sleep (which isn't going to happen).

I mean theoretically if you change sheets every day and have a shower in the morning it's fine. but for example touching door handles, the shower door, taps etc. etc. all will cause contamination. urine by itself is sterile, but left out is a breeding ground for bacteria.

Do you have statistics for how many deaths and/or serious illnesses per year (month?/week?) are caused by this wee bacteria growing in peoples beds please?

Obvs I'm in the peeing in the dark and not washing hands camp, hot water takes ages to get to my e-s and cold water would wake me up so much I'd never get back to sleep! I'm ok with being a minger though I guess!

Iatethelastrolo · 16/01/2024 00:02

This thread is like a sister to the thread about killing toilet germs with bleach 😁

IDontOftenComment · 16/01/2024 00:06

Wee, then straight back to bed, no light, no flush no wash.
no problem!

emilysquest · 16/01/2024 00:08

I wouldn't dream of washing my hands. I don't touch anything other than the loo paper, the toilet seat is left up at night (always closed for flush, but I don't flush after a wee at night).

nameychangerrrrrr · 16/01/2024 00:08

I am crying with laughter at this thread

No I don't because it wakes me up but I 100% do in the morning.

emilysquest · 16/01/2024 00:09

And PS wee is completely sterile (unless you have a urinary infection).
