Who would it be? I always thought Belle from Beauty and the Beast would have been hands down Anne Hathaway although I realise she was probably out of the age range

Currently thinking of others because it's Saturday afternoon and I'm bored

OP posts:

Kirsten Stewart in anything that has words (mumble mumble mumble)

CountFucula · 13/01/2024 19:21

Daniel Radcliffe can’t act and was simply lame as Harry Potter

I never thought Di Caprio and Winslet were a convincing couple although I do like them both as actors. Kate looked like his big sister.

Agree. 'Rose' appears to have more chemistry with the fictional version of Thomas Andrews than she does with Jack.

That said, since when did Victor Garber ever put a foot wrong? He's also SO attractive (but why do I always have to have crushes on gay men?) 😂😭

RenoDakota · 13/01/2024 19:23

I would replace Thomas Brodie-Sangster in The Queen's Gambit as he still looks about 12. Looks like he had raided a grown-up's dressing up box for that cowboy hat. Not sure who I would replace him with, though.

Replace Jack Black in The Holiday. There about a billion other actors who could be warm and gently comedic but also a believable romantic pairing with Kate Winslet.

Paul Rudd. Always Paul Rudd.

Thatnameistaken · 13/01/2024 19:24

Jake Gyllenhaal should have been Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones...

clarepetal · 13/01/2024 19:25

Hugh Grant should have been Professor Lockheart in The Chamber of Secrets.

napody · 13/01/2024 19:26

Gowlett · 13/01/2024 18:47

I thought Timothee Chalamet was a brilliant Wonka.
But the rest of the cast / characters are totally forgettable.

He was great, but Hugh Grant stole the show didn't he?
'I'm dancing now, I can't stop it' 😂

Catlover1705 · 13/01/2024 19:27

Kevin Costner as Robin Hood was always a strange one, although he is easy on the eye.

Devilsmommy · 13/01/2024 19:29

Twiglets1 · 13/01/2024 16:12

Teeny tiny Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher should be replaced by someone tall like Liam Neeson.

The best thing they did was cast the guy who plays him in the reacher series. He actually looks like how I imagined jack reacher. Alan something I can't remember his name🤣

MaryGreenhill · 13/01/2024 19:31

Keira Knightly in Pride & Prejudice , she talks so fast l can't understand a word she speaks and her jib Hmm

sprigatito · 13/01/2024 19:32

I wanted Annette Badland to play Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter movies. I think Imelda Staunton did a fantastic job, but when I reread the books I still picture Annette Badland.

Avacardo2023 · 13/01/2024 19:32

George Clooney as Batman. Russell Crowe in Les Mis.

Also not films but two castings that annoy me immensely and ruin a brilliant series are Mike in Ghosts and Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock in Elementary.

Paul Rudd. Always Paul Rudd.

YES. That would have been brilliant. I'm going to pretend it's him next time I watch it. Can totally see him bashfully saying "I used only the good notes"

SerafinasGoose · 13/01/2024 19:36

I can't even look at him [Jack Black] without hearing him in my head singing: 'play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul' ...

Just ... no.

I always thought Arwen in LOTR should have been Kate Beckinsale. Liv Tyler is not an elf.

Wash your mouth out! Liv Tyler is magnificent in that role

Well, if all Arwyn had to do was float about looking ethereal - as she does on the rare occasions she appeared in the books - Liv Tyler would be a winner.

In the films they've rewritten the character to be extremely powerful and courageous. Somehow, that's the bit that doesn't fly.

LadyEloise1 · 13/01/2024 19:41

Matt Damon should not have been Jason Bourne.
Tom Hanks should not have been Sherman Mc Coy in The Bonfire of the Vanities.
Leonardo di Caprio should not have been Jack in Titanic. Too young looking for Kate Winslett.

Towelrail · 13/01/2024 19:41

I imagine Kate beckinsale to be quite short. Maybe she'd have been good as. Hobbit?

Uricon2 · 13/01/2024 19:49

I LOVED TC as Lestat (and so did Anne Rice) Brad Pitt was on the other hand a block of wood.

BlindurErBóklausMaður · 13/01/2024 19:52

Re: Orlando Bloom/Legolas, I read somewhere something like film Legolas only says about 15 words or sth in the entire saga (slight exaggeration 😂) and never once addresses Frodo directly.
I keep meaning to watch it all again to check but then think life is too short.
(Frodo never blinks either apparently)

Sparklypen · 13/01/2024 19:57

MillicentRogers · 13/01/2024 17:29

Lassie should have been played by an XL Bully.

That would be an interesting remake🤣

Sparklypen · 13/01/2024 20:00

clarepetal · 13/01/2024 19:25

Hugh Grant should have been Professor Lockheart in The Chamber of Secrets.

I think they wanted him for the film but he said no.

Agree - Ken Branagh not really handsome enough

Twiceover · 13/01/2024 20:01

Daniel Craig as James Bond. He always looks like he should be wearing a cardigan and having a nice sit down with a cup of tea.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 13/01/2024 20:13

Julia Roberts in Notting Hill, seemed to be just blank. Sandra Bullock would have been much better.

Agree that Hugh Grant should have been Lockhart, although when I read it I weirdly imagined him as Jamie Oliver.
