Where is Mr Cummings these days? Can't wait for the bus to arrive '350,000 illegal immigrants will be flown to Rwanda. More money for NHS. Vote me'.

Cornettoninja · 18/01/2024 14:30

Cummings is busy writing impenetrable tweets/x’s sounding very pleased with himself from what I’ve seen.

Cornettoninja · 18/01/2024 14:32

@L1ttledrummergirl I purposely daydream about the Tory candidate door stepping me and me refusing to hear anything they have to say unless it’s an apology.

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/01/2024 14:52

DuncinToffee · 18/01/2024 10:57

He is refusing to give a date for the first flight, can't even say if it will be before the election.

That's because he knows there will be no flight.

itsgettingweird · 18/01/2024 16:09

Politics shouldn't be this hard to live with.

This one sentence is an excellent summing up of the situation.

newnamethanks · 18/01/2024 16:32

I can't help feeling that in another life Mr Sunak could have been en excellent salesman for Fujitsu. He appears to have all the requisite qualities.

AdamRyan · 18/01/2024 17:10

Oh dear. The Mones are so misunderstood

I think this all may be starting to get to me. I just tried to turn my smart speaker off by saying "OK government stop now". Bizarrely my Google home took no notice and kept playing.

Which is pretty much what the small boats did when Rishi told them to stop.

RafaistheKingofClay · 18/01/2024 18:00

Forgot I followed Conservative Post the other day.

This post is comedy gold.

This well bells on, someone just make it stop I’m losing what little sanity I had.

newnamethanks · 18/01/2024 18:09

It's not you @dontcallmelen , it's Them.

RafaistheKingofClay · 18/01/2024 18:17

The most memorable part of that speech Starmer have the other day is that politics should tread a little lighter on people’s lives.

He’s not wrong.

Apparently Coffee knows Kigali is the capital of Rwanda

I know Kigali is Rwandan capital, says Therese Coffey - BBC News

In a social media post, Ms Coffey said: "Some keyboard snipers moaning that I criticised the opposition for referring to the Kigali government, not the Rwandan government.
"I would not call the French government, the Paris government nor the Scottish government, the Edinburgh government. Why disrespect Rwanda?"
Critics have pointed out Ms Coffey has referred to "Holyrood, Cardiff or Stormont" when referring to the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Senedd and Northern Ireland assembly, respectively.
Ms Coffey also repeatedly referred to "Brussels" on social media when referring to the European Union, which has its headquarters in the Belgian capital.

The ex-deputy PM hits back at "keyboard snipers" who claim she got it wrong in a Commons debate.

I bet she has also ever refered to the ECHR as a foreign court since it belongs as much to the UK as it does to any country.

newnamethanks · 18/01/2024 22:15

Well. She knows now. Silly woman.

newnamethanks · 18/01/2024 22:40

Coffey speaking from Westminster? I think everyone understands that? Even Dr Coffey.

AdamRyan · 18/01/2024 23:20

Emily Thornberry doing a great job on QT tonight. Plus Hashi Mohamed. I hadn't heard of him before, but he talks a lot of sense in a very eloquent way.

L1ttledrummergirl · 19/01/2024 08:31

Question time was good last night. Its a shame Bim Afolami thought he was on avoid answering question time. Learnt from Sunak when he fails to answer questions at PMQs.

The rest of the guests were good though, and the audience made some good points.

Barrister Hashi Mohamed says the rhetoric created by the Rwanda policy is “poison” and describes the policy as “unconscionable”

The Home Office has hired an aircraft hangar and a fuselage so they can practice forcibly removing migrants on to planes.

I am sure our Tory friends will be first in line to volunteer their services

How much lower can you sink, Sunak

Whilst the sight of people being forceably removed may play well with some of those who voted Conservative in 2019, for others of their 2019 voters, thinking particularly in Shire counties who also think of themselves as compassionate I expect it will further alienate them. The sort of people that Sunak may also have alienated with his anti-environment rhetoric.

That is truly repulsive.

I agree with @jgw1 - this won't bring back the more moderate, compassionate Tory voters.

RafaistheKingofClay · 19/01/2024 10:55

I don’t think they are at all bothered about bringing back the moderate Tory voters. Chasing the reform vote seems to be what they are going for. Happy for them to carry on with that once they are out of government. Just need to get them out.
