RAGE from @jessphillips on the #RwandaBill costing £169k per person, IF anyone is even ever deported, while child abuse victims are given £42 each.

"150 judges can be found suddenly down the back of the sofa, while rape victims wait seven years to get in front of a judge." ~AA

Aww thanks everyone StarFlowers

I'm not up for the insults anymore, I'd rather have a nice chat than a row

DuncinToffee · 17/01/2024 22:12

Hilarious, hard man 30p Lee

Lee Anderson tells @christopherhope on @GBNEWS he went into the ‘No’ lobby, but Labour MPs were sniggering and saying ‘he’s coming back to Labour’ and he couldn’t do it. He abstained., having resigned yesterday to vote for the amendments.

tobee · 17/01/2024 22:17

Been doing boring jobs (laundry etc) and bingeing the BBC Sounds podcast called The Great Post Office Trial. Obviously there's been the Mr Bates vs The Post Office drama which has had so much attention. This podcast came first (2020) and I highly recommend it. Smile

IClaudine · 17/01/2024 22:52

Very disappointed the government hasn't fallen. 😪

Flowers to everyone who has been upset by the nastier elements of MN. It will get worse, so take care of yourselves.

IClaudine · 17/01/2024 22:55

😱😱😱. Just put the TV on and Rees Mogg is on newsnight.

According to the latest YouGov poll, the SUnak government is less popular than the Truss one

I’m amazed they had time to measure the Truss government’s popularity.

OP posts:
RafaistheKingofClay · 17/01/2024 23:05

I’m glad they did. The Truss line is the funniest thing about any Tory PM popularity graph.

Five families strategy latest:

Trash the Bill
Trash the PM
Damage your family members chances of re-election
Then vote for the Bill

More Dumb & Dumber than Goodfellas

RafaistheKingofClay · 17/01/2024 23:19

I was quite fond of ‘turns out the 5 families are pretty much 5 childless couples.’

Fair play to 30p Lee for trying the ‘it was Labour’s fault I didn’t vote’ excuse.

DuncinToffee · 17/01/2024 23:34

or

My favourite scene in The Godfather is when the five families meet and agree to do whatever the police say

Therese Coffey having a go at Yvette Cooper for Rwanda by the wrong country name while apparently not realising that Kigali is not a country but the capital of Rwanda.

I wish someone had intervened at that point and told her

"It is important to speak in this debate. I have to say, I was somewhat astonished by the speech of the shadow Home Secretary, who cannot even get the name of the country right, talking about the Kigali Government when we are talking about Rwanda—a respected country that has recently been president of the Commonwealth."

Is she attempting to unassociate herself with turnips by saying something even more stupid?

Thank you! That made me laugh out loud over my cup of tea this morning. I think what did it was seeing Yvette and Steven Kinnock's faces, they obviously wanted to laugh out loud like me too

Therese is sooo ignorant

cakeorwine · 18/01/2024 07:35

It would have been so funny

"Thankyou to the Honourable Lady for allowing me to intervene. May I kindly point out to the Honourable Lady that Kigali is in fact the name of the capital of Rwanda. I would have hoped that the Honourable Lady would have known some basic facts about the country she is hoping to send people to"

Carol Vorderman enjoying the fact that Lee was not able to vote against the bill with his convictions because of the Labour MPs. Who needs whips?

But then again, maybe an argument for voting by tablet.

Notonthestairs · 18/01/2024 08:30

30p is too thin skinned to go with the courage of his convictions (what was Clark smiths excuse?)
&
Coffrey happily goes on record showing that she doesn't know the capital of Rwanda whilst complaining that Cooper is incorrectly identifying a government.

I mean, come on!

The circus continues

NEW: I'm told multiple letters of no confidence in the prime minister went in yesterday. Rebel MPs were unhappy about the way the vote was handled by the PM being seen as a final straw. Some had held back from putting theirs in, in December.

It’s rare there’s the opportunity to praise Rishi but apart from the bill being in Parliament at all he’s handled this spot on hasn’t he? He called their bluff and they bottled it.
They don’t have the numbers to get amendments passed themselves and now they’ve shown that if it means the government getting defeated on a key bill they’ll roll over.

Presumably what they actually mean is he isn’t bending to their will. Credit to Rishi I didn’t think he had that much spine.
