Saw Beyoncé up close. Didn't expect her to be so petite, also she was covered in tiny little moles of freckles that added to her loveliness.

In the late 80s, I was asked out for a drink by Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins whilst on a lunch break walking up Chancery Lane. He was very drunk 🥴. Declined obvs 😁
I've served tea and cake to Roger Daltry, again in the late 80s. Very up his own arse, horrible man!
Was in a club in the West End in the mid 80s, dancing away with Boy George in our little group. He wasn't with us mind, just decided to join us dancing.
I've met and chatted to The Pasadenas (remember them) in a club, mid to late 80s.
Jamie Carragher walked past me in St James' Park a few months ago. Didnt even say hello to me 🤣

I'm sorry to hear that about Roger: I adore The Who.

That's interesting. Why would he throw someone over his shoulder?!

I know someone who used to work for him very closely. Apparently he is very nice and looks after his employees like they are family.

This used to be a bit of a “party trick” of his (Branson), a few years back - he was often pictured at celeb events picking random women up and sometimes turning them upside down. No idea why. It was a bit grim.

@FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper sorry, you've completely lost me! Diouf, the Leeds player. With his entourage, a load of other Leeds players. Didn't know who the hell they were to be fair as I've no interest in football but was introduced via other dancers who were all fawning over them as is to be expected.

Aaaaaahhh, sorry and thanks for clarifying. Shows how thick and out of touch with popular sports culture I am!

I've heard mention of a lot of the more prominent footballers (no idea which teams they play for), but that name is a complete mystery to me. I thought autocorrect had done its 'magic' with the start of your sentence!

Whoever he is, though, he sounds nasty and abusive.

I'm sure it's all 'hilarious' and 'just a bit of fun' for him; but I'd be very interested to see how he would react if somebody like Greg Davies or Mark Labbett was there and did the same thing to him.

What a bully.

I was an extra in an ad that she did (not the Cinzano ads, I'm afraid). I think it was for the Bristol and West Building Society aroundabout 1988. We were all there early, as you generally are when filming and then stood around for ages until she decided that she was ready.

She was wearing a black and white dress and unfortunately, Wardrobe had given me a not dissimilar dress - as you might imagine, I spent most of my day standing behind a door out of shot!

This has just reminded me of something!
I was an Extra in an advert with Nell McAndrew (Google her 😂)
I wore what I was assigned (quite revealing as they had booked me for this reason) and - allegedly - she wasn't happy, so I was made to swap seats with my dining partner in the scene and my back was kept to the camera at all times. 😁

I was at school with Hannah Waddingham, and she was horrible. Absolute bully. In fairness, it was decades ago and she may have changed. I certainly hope so, for the sake of those around her.

I was at school with Hannah too!

I remember Michael Barry pre turning Mary Nightingale upside down years ago at a function.

Met Stephen Mangan through work and he was really friendly and professional.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 11/01/2024 09:43

I've just remembered, I never met him, but I did speak to David James (former Liverpool player, I later learned) on the phone a few times.

He did coaching or something similar based on his skill-base and experience, and I worked at the time as a lowly call-centre minion for a huge company that gladly used his services but didn't bother to pay him for them, so he had to keep calling to chase his money - his livelihood.

He was always very polite and friendly enough, considering that he should have been paid promptly and shouldn't have had to keep calling in the first place. He did realise that it wasn't my personal decision to keep withholding his payments.

The company's shameful bill-paying practices were a large reason why I left - a balance of my disgust at how many 'little people' were being cheerfully and needlessly screwed and my having to deal with their (very understandable) upset and anger as a direct result.

Well my first thought would be to try to expose their underwear!

How demeaning/degrading.

My mam was in a band that did the Irish pub circuit when she was a teen. She met & sang with Phil Lynott who was also doing the same. She said he was a lovely guy.

I've told this story before about my mother in law. She was in a cafe in Portmarnock in Dublin with her sisters. She saw a man she recognised at another table so she went over to say hi. Had a lovely chat with him asking how he was, how's the family etc. He was lovely to her. She then sat with her sisters who were in shock. They asked her if she knew who she was talking to. She said she couldn't remember his name but she definitely knew him. They told her it was Brendan Gleason! She had no idea. She then went back to him to apologise cos she thought he was someone else. He thought it was hilarious & was very friendly & lovely.

Sheila Hancock, miserable woman.

@elp30 love your Jack Nicholson story!

I don't know why, but that doesn't surprise me about Sheila Hancock.

Something about her has always struck me as being like that. Very unfair of me, I know.

I remember when Liberty X got signed to Virgin Records and Branson picked up Jessica Taylor (now married to cricketer Kevin Pietersen) and turned her upside down. In fact, I've just googled and found a photo. Poor woman.

Wishitwouldsnowsomuch · 12/01/2024 16:32

How odd that Branson just kept lifting women upside down

catscatscurrantscurrants · 12/01/2024 16:46

When he did that to my friend, she was wearing a short dress and so her underwear was on show. Press photographers were there snapping away, hence her being especially angry and humiliated. I had no idea he has form for that. We'd have kept away from him if we'd known.

Wishitwouldsnowsomuch · 12/01/2024 18:40

That’s really weird
