Anyone actually excited about a Keir / Labour govt?

1000 replies

roarrfeckingroar · 04/01/2024 17:37

I'm typically a Tory voter (one nation Conservative, just right of centre, nothing radical) and gender critical, so I'm wary of a Labour government. I worry they'll leave the country worse than it is now.

However, I absolutely agree we need a change. Things can't get much worse, can they? Idiots like Boris and Truss have made a mockery of what I understand of the Conservatives - namely economic competence - and I can't vote for them this time. I don't know who I will vote for.

Listening to LBC this evening, I hear a Labour MP talk about how Starmer is offering an "exciting programme" of change and I just don't buy it. Maybe he will he better, maybe he won't, but my real question is is anyone genuinely excited about Labour, or just looking forward to the back of the Tories?

Women have been impacted by Tory policy much more than any man.

Yes, and that it very much reflected in changes post-2010 to the way women vote

Prior to 2010, gender gaps were small but by and large women were more likely to vote Conservative than men, and men were more likely to vote Labour than women. In 2010, we saw very little difference between men and women in their vote choice.

From 2015 onwards, women have been supporting Labour in higher numbers than men by ever larger margins

New British Election Study data shows the gender gap at the 2019 general election was the largest for 50 years. Dr Shorrocks discusses.

🤷‍♂️ scroll past rather than quote a post from ages ago

It seems you can’t help but do this even though you are busting to talk about another topic

Go on then I’m not stopping you knock yourself out.

I know my post is the most interesting but read others

It is not as if people don't care about women's rights but to keep banging on about biological sex doesn't add much to this particular discussion when you consider that Conservatives couldn't care less about anyone's rights. Least of all women.

Well I’ve found some posts interesting and have responded

If you don’t engage with another poster 🤷‍♂️

All I'm interested in right now is how to keep womens rights. For the cunty type women, not the penisy type women.

We have made some progress with the Tories. Not nearly enough progress. And no I'm by no means happy with that.

But I look at labour getting in (pretty sure they will) and I want to state for the record, women's rights will be decimated by a man who cannot stand up to the TRAs in his party, cannot give a simple answer to a question 10 minutes ago we all knew the answer to, is a craven coward, and/or an idiot. Whatever, he is not fit to run a country.
I TOLD YOU ALL SO.

cannot remember how to do bigly letters.

So in a nutshell, you want all women to vote Tory based on their ability to " know what a woman is ". And all the other stuff they've neglected to do or run into the ground, well, just forget about it because , they " know what a woman is" and they're doing very well in that area?

Oh god I don’t care.

You are putting too much in to this and it’s weird.

I’m fine with posting here, if you’re not then don’t

Then stop your whining about (non-Tory supporting) posters using the quote function on your posts.🙄 It's bizarre.

Or maybe start a thread in Site Stuff and tell MNHQ how it's making you feel.

It's exactly what the Tories want. They've destroyed everything and this is all they have left, even though it's all happened in their watch.

Craven? Coward?

Oh cunty, yeah I use it a lot on fwr, to distinguish between the women and those who are better at womanning

It's complete disingenuous bollocks. A bit like people who repeatedly said that their vote to leave the EU had nothing to do with EU migrants. And it was all because they didn't know who their MEP was.

It is a convenient issue to hide behind for rich people who resent any suggestion of a return to any kind of level playing field. And they think it makes them look like they care about women but most of us can see right through it.

lifeturnsonadime · 05/01/2024 15:39

I, for one, think it's a shame that women's rights are a price that women think it's worth paying.

How about hold the Labour Party to higher standards on this?

Posters talk about this being a rich woman's issue but it's disadvantaged women who are more likely to be affected by the removal of women's rights. It's poor women who are more likely to be caught up needing to use hostels or shelters or in the prison system. It's religious minorities who are more likely to be stuck in the home on a urinary leash because they are unable to go into public toilets due to them being mixed sex. Our daughters in schools won't have access to single sex toilets so the educational rights of females will be harmed.

It ought to be possible for the Labour Party to do the right thing here and it's not fucking progressive to put the rights of males above women. How anyone can say that this is a progressive Labour Party when it will continue to treat women so badly is beyond me.

And we already see what labour think about that when the labour run council in bham chose not to give equal bonuses to women. They were taken to court and lost.

Deluded to think labour are going to protect women and treat us equally. They have already shown us they don't.

To be fair the trans issue

Women’s sex based rights to those that care..

THIS.

Starlightstargazer · 05/01/2024 15:56

Yes I am! I can’t wait for a Labour government! I worked as a midwife for 16 years and the Labour government brought ask much good for women and families. I could refer to many services and support groups. Since 2010, everything has gone to shit. Every single service has been decimated. Everyone pitched against each other.

caringcarer · 05/01/2024 15:59

I don't think Conservatives are doing a good job. I really dislike Richi Sunak. I'm honestly dreading it. Immigration would be even higher than it is now and even more expensive than the £8 million pounds spent a week already. If they put higher taxes on the richest then they will move to other countries. If they take away some perks from Non Dom's who already pay huge amounts of tax in UK they will leave for a country where they are less punitive in terms of tax. This leaves our economy with less money. They will reverse pension so higher paid people can't put so much into pensions so they will simply retire early rather than gone to even higher tax brackets. Many of these will be surgeons and doctors in NHS who we need. I expect them to put rent caps on private rentals meaning many more LL's will sell up so even more competition to get a private rental. This has not worked in Scotland we here now rentals have become higher. It's just very depressing. I suppose if you claim lots of benefits you'd be happy because no doubt benefits will be raised. Allowance have been frozen for working people for years and they need to be raised but with welfare and NHS needing so much money I can't see that happening.

No you are too Labour I’m sure

But I doubt your posts have convinced anyone Starmer is better for women’s sex based rights

I’ve seen a few pro Labour try but they usually don’t do very well, Labour is too deep in gender ideology

You seem sure about a lot of things that aren't accurate. I've seen your comments to other people. Quite funny.

It's nothing to do with being too labour. It's to do with seeing the current incumbents and wanting better.

fuckssaaaaake · 05/01/2024 16:03

@Winnading I am partial to a swear word to be fair (check username) was just a little early in the debate for me 🤣. I hear you, I see you, I just think they're all as gash as each other. We won't win either way

Nitesaredrawinin · 05/01/2024 16:05

Definitely voting Labour, I’m sick and tired of these Rich Tory twats. They haven’t got the fucking foggiest idea of how people are living today. All the rich buggers stick together.

Possiblypossible · 05/01/2024 16:06

@jgw1 I assume you are talking about the central tax system. A system to which I contribute, that pays for an education I don't use for my children.

I don't know what point you are trying to prove, though I am sure you are making one. Can you explain further please?

No idea what you’re going on about but if that’s the extent of your attack whatever

Like I said a few try to go on about Labour in FWR and don’t last long as many informed posters easily refute it

I agree. it is those like you who work in public services who have seen first hand just how much schools, healthcare, everything has been cut.

My local hospital currently has a 64 week waiting list for people who need an urgent colonoscopy.

Shinyandnew1 · 05/01/2024 16:08

Having taught for years and had children under a Labour government and then done the same again under a Tory government, I can see first-hand the devastation that the Conservatives have caused. I will be very glad to vote Labour to get rid of them.
