Light hearted of course but I'm having a really rough time health wise, made 1000x better by my lovely cat who is snoozing with me currently.

I can't help showering him with compliments as he is so adorable and I wondered whether other people are the same and what they say!

Today I couldn't help but tell him that he is authoritative but squidgy and has the silkiest fur.

Happy to hear re other creatures too!

Fairly generalised and not at all imaginative, I tell them both "there's my lovely/beautiful/gorgeous girl/baby", and when Miss Megacolon has done a poo I tell her what a good girl she is - especially if I've had a stressful day and she comes out to draw my attention to what she's done.

MPForFlydaleNorth · 04/01/2024 11:07

That she is the best cat in the whole wide world, and I love her more than all the stars on the sky

I tell him he's a very handsome boy (he is) & a good boy (he is)!

LancashireSquirrel · 04/01/2024 11:10

I tell him how handsome and fancy he is 🐈‍⬛

OldRanter · 04/01/2024 11:11

I used to tell mine he was so gorgeous and a lovely colour (he was a BSH blue) He died about 3 years ago at age 17, still miss him😘

AmandaHoldensLips · 04/01/2024 11:12

I ask her how many stripes she has, then we count them together and marvel at how stripy she is and discuss whether we should call the guinness book of records and have somebody come round and agree that they are world-beating stripes.

watcherintherye · 04/01/2024 11:14

I frequently tell him what a lovely, handsome boy he is, and that he’s like a little lion!

I love this!

Do you get the same number of stripes every time you count them? 😻

Cat 1- she is the cattiest cat! She is sooo catty! A queen! The topcat! She's a little round, the softest snail! A proud loaf!

Cat 2- she's the floofiest queen! She's a little floofster! A snuggle puff ! A little floofsickle fluff ball!

Cat 3- he's a handsome boy! My little Prince! He's my chunky monkey. A regal floof. My best boy! My big brave boy! He's my little killer, my sweet little baby!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/01/2024 11:15

I tell her she is the smartest, funniest, purriest, prettiest girl in the whole wide world.

Cats already have enough of a superiority complex!

Winston Churchill had it right: "Dogs look up to you, Cats look down on you".

(I do like them btw)

Overtheatlantic · 04/01/2024 11:17

I sing to her of her extraordinary grace and beauty. This morning, however, I informed her that her ears were cold.

Catsknowbest · 04/01/2024 11:17

I confess I have a little song for mine "where is my puddy cat? (repeat first line a few times) There she is!" Then we have major fussings...yep it's true 😂

That she is my little baby kitten girl and always will be, and no one is better than her and she swooonnnnssss

BarbaraBuncle · 04/01/2024 11:19

I tell my 🐈‍⬛️ that he's a gorgeous, very handsome boy, he's the best cat in the world, has the loveliest softest fur, is the cuddliest, most clever boy, and that we all love him very much.

Right now, though, he's being a bit of a dick, demanding to go outside in the rain, every couple of mins 🙄 and then demanding to be let back in again.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/01/2024 11:19

None. I often (daily) tell them what fat bastards they are though.

March2024baby · 04/01/2024 11:20

That he is such a handsome boy, that he's a good boy (for pretty much existing, eating his food and sitting by me), that he is such a cuddly boy - so cuddly.

He loves it. Well I say he does, DH says he has no choice and tolerates it. What does he know??!

catscalledbeanz · 04/01/2024 11:20

I tell them all how much I love them and how much better my life is with them.

If they choose to sit on me (daily and yet never not exciting!) I will exclaim "I'm soo lucky! You've chosen me! Thank you little floof!" And as it escalates this continues "oh my goodness! TWO of you? Look dh! I've got a grade 2 cat pile! I'm so lucky!" "OMG! Dh! Dh! LOOK! It's a grade 1 cat pile! On my lap! All the floofs! A top notch cuddle pile! I'm so lucky! Look at all my little babies! They're so lovely. They're so loving! I love them so much!"

Poor dh is but a bystander to my dearest and deepest relationship with my cats

Horriblewoman · 04/01/2024 11:21

We have two, multiple times every day we tell them that they are brave and strong and funny and pretty (in that order)

Otherwise it’s more question based

  • do you have the smallest paws in the world?
  • can your tummy be any softer?
  • do you want all the cuddles?
  • Is your voice the prettiest?

and obviously the classic oooooo big yawn / big stretch

RainbowZebraWarrior · 04/01/2024 11:21

I tell him repeatedly that he is the most handsome boyo. He is beautiful, and the most loving kitto catto ever. All whilst stroking his ears and whiskers, tickling his chin.

In my mind, he is looking at me and saying "You are the bestest mummy and I LUFF YOU"

What compliments do you pay your cat?
DawnButlersGayGiraffe · 04/01/2024 11:21

I reassure him he's a strong independent pussy cat and it's OK to talk about his feelings of inadequacy instead of just taking them out on his sister, who as we both know could end him viciously, if she so chose. And I remind him I rescued him from certain death so perhaps he could be a bit nicer to me too.

TheMousePipes · 04/01/2024 11:22

My cat LOVES to be told that he’s a good boy.
I can witter away at him and he just looks at me, but when I say the magic ‘you’re a GOOD boy’
his eyes go all squinty and smug and he starts to purr.

Singleandproud · 04/01/2024 11:22

Well, one of mine is struggling massively with flea allergy at the moment (don't worry she's treated and medicated) and is 'FrankenCat' but that's not particularly kind, she was originally a rescue that had been left in a box at the side of the road and I suspect the FAD is the reason as she's over groomed massively and looks a state. Normally she has very fine black fur and it's the softest thing I've ever touched and she is a real sweety and will sleep next to me all night. She is half the size of my male cat who is a very docile, big, fluffy black cat and she'll think nothing of going up to him peacefully sleeping and swatting him.
