What compliments do you pay your cat?

Light hearted of course but I'm having a really rough time health wise, made 1000x better by my lovely cat who is snoozing with me currently.

I can't help showering him with compliments as he is so adorable and I wondered whether other people are the same and what they say!

Today I couldn't help but tell him that he is authoritative but squidgy and has the silkiest fur.

Happy to hear re other creatures too!

I lovingly call her the biggest arsehole in the house, a competition which is very competitive on any given day.

DC1 - I tell her that she is beautiful but also has a great personality and is very intelligent. Don't want her to think only looks matter!

DC2 - I tell her she's the softest, snuggliest little angel sent from heaven. She very much is not an angel, shes actually very naughty and will destroy everything nice I own.

I tell my middle one he's a good boy, he'll wag his tail and dance his front paws, he is most definitely a cat though!

When you said lioness my mind immediately went to my little one being a snow leopard and thought contest! Obviously with very strict rules and strong sanctions for any violence. But I’m afraid mine being a combination of extremely stupid and very gentle would probably give a very good impression of the idiot Olympics or whatever that Monty Python sketch was. Think a race and she’d just start in the wrong direction or a hunting contest and she’d find a mouse and tap it going “you’re it” then contemplate the mysteries of the universe.

I have a super timid cat, she doesn't allow eye contact or any touching.
An unfamiliar cat came into our garden and my v shy cat "saw it off" by crouching on the picnic table with her ears back and staring at it for 10 min while more confident boy cat lounged about indoors
I gave her lots of praise saying what a good and clever girl she was. (Ideally I'd have given her a hug but she does not allow such affection)

Boy cat gets congratulated for being really clever when he notices his food without meowing and pestering everyone in the house for food when his bowl is full! 🤣

I call my cat several things, hello funny face, sweet pea, gorgeous girl, pretty eyes.

I did something weird the other day I got her attention and just in an exaggerated way mouthed nice things to her with a kind face - mad I know!😂and she still went all soppy and purring started awwwww!!

She was a rescue Devon and I often tell her how she fell on her feet coming to us !😁

My big hairy ginger and white cat gets told hes a handsome boy, the siamese suki gets told shes a pretty girl and the tabby one Sam gets told hes a sweetie first picture has my other cat who was half siamese he went to bridge two years ago cant find the one of Suki

i talk to him and he talks back as he's half bengal.... he loves a head rub

I tell mine that I adore his squashy chubby furry little belly everyday. I am aware though that in the current climate this could be construed as being fattist therefore I assure him that his body shape does not matter and real beauty lies within.

I prefer to praise their achievements rather than their looks (although I do comment on their noble profiles when they are gazing off into the distance)

So it’s more “SUPER yawn!”, “BIG stretch!”, “NICE wee in the tray!” and this morning “LOVELY mouse on the kitchen floor”. I feel this way I am bolstering their confidence and not just focussing on the external as objectively they may not be the most beautiful of all cats

I get what you’re saying but please be careful with this. You may inadvertently set your cat up to be an overachiever who sets impossibly high standards for themselves.

I tell my very long haired boy cat he is the most handsome cat in the world. He is so soft and gorgeous too stroke. I also tell him he's my favourite boy. I tell my little girl cat she purrs like a tractor she has the loudest purr but only a little squeaky miaow. I tell her she's my favourite girl. All perfectly true. 😻😻😻
