What compliments do you pay your cat?

Light hearted of course but I'm having a really rough time health wise, made 1000x better by my lovely cat who is snoozing with me currently.

I can't help showering him with compliments as he is so adorable and I wondered whether other people are the same and what they say!

Today I couldn't help but tell him that he is authoritative but squidgy and has the silkiest fur.

Happy to hear re other creatures too!

"Who's my gorgeous/beautiful girl", "You're my gorgeous/beautiful girl" interchangeably between the two of them...

"You're a funny girl" comes out when one of them's having zoomies around the house and garden, snatching toys and doing the nutty head swishing thing.

Also "cowbag" when I'm tending my wounds after one of them's been a moody sod and decided they must NOT be fussed (honestly never had a cat that has such big mood swings before)

Or "clever girl" when we've just caught and released the live mouse that she's brought us, or picked up bits of whatever dead thing she's brought us. She's ever so pleased with herself normally!

I tell her she is the smartest, funniest, purriest, prettiest girl in the whole wide world.

Beautiful!😻

I tell her she is a ginger princess 👸😻or call her little girl. She's a tiny little thing.

We adopted our wonderful cat when she was 13 - she is now 18 and a half and still going strong. I tell her everyday 'How lucky are we that you chose to come and live with us!'

christmaspawpaws · 04/01/2024 11:57

That he's a big brave strong boy
How cute he is with shiny soft fur
How pretty his ear tufts are
How cuddly he is
What a good boy he is when he's not eating plastic
How clever he is playing fetch

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 04/01/2024 12:04

@christmaspawpaws can Velvet and your baby have a club where they get told well done just for not eating stupid things? Velvet has clocked up Christmas tree, Christmas lights and various cardboard boxes so far (she’s about 2 and has been with us for six weeks) and one of her favourite activities is to spot a toy, carefully but incredibly obviously hide between something that isn’t going to conceal her in a million years, then “pounce” which is giving a mild pat and sometimes she picks up whatever she has caught and carries it a short way. The weirdest one was a packet of dreamies. It turned up bloody everywhere but she never got it open.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 04/01/2024 12:05

PS his ear tufts are admirable!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 04/01/2024 12:08

Apologies - I meant to include a picture of my baby boy with the boopable nosey 🤦🏼‍♀️
Bit embarrassing as I was whinging about the lack of pictures 😁

Thank you to those who added photos 😊

Oh Lord, I mostly insult mine. Tell them they're stupid and brainless and a disgrace to the name of cat because of whatever it is they're doing, but they're spoilt rotten and I adore them.
One of them does, admittedly, have very sweet white socks so his toes get admired. And I like to tell them how smushy they are. But mostly it's insults, because that's how we show love in our family 😄

orangeblosssom · 04/01/2024 12:13

Baby cat is the best in the world.
Most cute and beautiful.
So clever

CeeJay81 · 04/01/2024 12:14

I'm always saying nice things to mine. Got her in October and she's been the best! I tell her how beautiful she is, tell her I love her etc. She was spayed yesterday and has been very cuddly today.

Brird · 04/01/2024 12:14

She's my stinkerella, my little lioness, pretty kitten, best girl.

I don't give specific compliments on fur, paws etc. I shall have to work on that.

cbuew9 · 04/01/2024 12:19

I always told my beloved rescue cat how special she was to me and how much I loved her....I still tell her I love her, even though her ashes are now in a presentation box on top of the bookshelf in pride of place.

The intention was to scatter her in her favourite parts of the garden, but so far I have felt at peace having her in the lounge....

Waltzers · 04/01/2024 12:23

That we should have called her Mary Poppins because she's practically perfect

Baldieheid · 04/01/2024 12:31

One gets her special song sung to her, which makes her go all gooey and snuggly.

One gets told how cute and adorable she is and that she's the most munchkin-iest little sausage in the whole wide world.

My clever, clever boy is told all the time just how clever he was to finally decide to trust us after 3 months, (abused, neglected rescue kitten who was deeply traumatised) and that he's a loverly boy.

JungsWordTest · 04/01/2024 12:35

Ours is Moosti with da big paws, and a proud savannah cat.

SoRainbowRhythms · 04/01/2024 12:37

I like to shout HANDSOMEST GUY IN THE WORLD at him as he sprints past.

Horrace · 04/01/2024 12:41

I tell mine he is the lulliest boy in lully town.
Or
You're so handsome what's your name?
And
If I were a girl cat.....

I have 2 boys and 2 girls but I compliment my boys more

DeanElderberry · 04/01/2024 12:43

Nothing special, just how beautiful he is, how soft, how wise, how kind, how comforting and soporific his purrs as he sleeps beside me, how lovely he smells. I started saying my prayers out loud at the start of Covid and suspect he thinks they're addressed to him, but they aren't.

I do tell the other, younger, cat how beautiful soft etc she is as well, with occasional extravagant praise if a stupid mouse, vole, shrew, or on one memorable and horrid occasion rat, strays into the house and gets dispatched by her - she has been an indoor cat from about two months, and it is clever of her to know what to do.

She does tend to get more praise for her beauty than for her character, but I think that's just because she's still young and callow. And very sweet.

Aw I think we have the same breed 😊 gorgeous

Sdpbody · 04/01/2024 12:51

My words this morning when my boy cat came in "Oh hello my sweet boy, aren't you so beautiful".

He was abandoned by a neighbour last year as he "never came home", so we always say, "oh hello beautiful boy, who never came home"

And my words to my girl cat, "Sweet baby girlie, come for a cuddle my angel".

The words I said to my DH were "you were snoring so much in the night and I wanted to suffocate you.

None. I often (daily) tell them what fat bastards they are though.

One of my cats gets called a fat bastard.
