Complex set of documents though. Even if you can get on the site it's not easy to digest, so we watch this space I suppose.

U.S. financier Jeffrey Epstein appears in a photograph taken for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services' sex offender registry March 28, 2017

Jeffrey Epstein: US court releases list of people connected to financier

The disgraced millionaire mixed with figures from the worlds of politics, business and royalty.

And I wonder why Prince Andrew could not be taught from his position of privilege not to rape sex trafficked teenage girls?

Roussette · 04/01/2024 14:47

LBFseBrom · 04/01/2024 13:01

I doubt Andrew has anything over Charles. They are brothers, there's no reason why the King should not support him. I do wish all this would die down, I looked at latest news online earlier (I don't have a paper now but check headlines online), the HateMail is having a gloat as usual. Not everyone is a voyeur who enjoys scandalmongering.

What? Your post is sounding like... I wish these powerful rich men hadn't been found out, and Epstein could've just carried on doing what he was doing.
Do you have daughters?
Why is highlighting abuse of young vulnerable girls 'scandalmongering'?

Im pretty sure he knew it wasn't okay.
He just didn't think he'd be caught up in a media frenzy with any backlash did he?
We can teach boys from early on that rape isn't okay and hope for the best, but we also need to accept that their unlikely to give a fuck when their mam will pay 12 million quid to a woman despite being photographed with, they've never met, to get them out of shit.

Visitors to the island could include innocent people the best way to keep a secret is not to share it with everyone so not everyone on "the list" will be a sleazeball and not everyone will be innocent either the trick will be working out who is who

Roussette · 04/01/2024 14:53

CathyorClaire · 04/01/2024 13:39

But even so, some people will manage to cover up their secret life.

Epstein's collection of pervy artworks were on display and dotted around in his properties yet apparently none of those maintaining an association with him found them creepy enough to cut ties.

He was literally telling them who he was.

Totally.

He had a 'human' female sized chesssboard in his NY mansion, plus a wall of breasts. Plus numerous 'treatment' rooms all videoed of course, plus endless young girls floating about the place. To have not seen all this, you would be blind

alltootired · 04/01/2024 14:54

@Roussette it is scandal mongering because being accused of rape and caught lying on TV to the public is worse than actually being raped.
Or so defenders think.

Lwrenagain · 04/01/2024 14:54

alltootired · 04/01/2024 14:37

@Lwrenagain Virginia Giuffre had run away from home and was living on the streets.
They hunted for vulnerable girls. This is what grooming gangs do. It is what happened in Rotherham.
Social Services and youth services try to safeguard these vulnerable children, but it is very hard.

I was replying to the poster who said about a parent with addiction whos priorities weren't her child.

Social services are stretched to the limit, we're now being told after decades of "myob" that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, which I agree with. But I think its important we explain to those in more vulnerable situations why they're more likely to see their children groomed than those who don't have homes filled with drug addictions or general chaos.

Because he was too busy being taught that people who arent Royalty only exist to service him and his needs.

alltootired · 04/01/2024 14:56

@Theunamedcat Read the documents. They are specific accusations. It is court statements, not a list of names with no context.

alltootired · 04/01/2024 14:57

@Lwrenagain I would settle for these rich and powerful men to actually be [prosecuted in court. We can dream.

It was pretty well known in the area I grew up that Hawking was fond of strip clubs, lap dancing, etc. He wasn’t always a very nice person to staff either.

This is far far worse. If this is diversionary tactics, it's disgusting. If it's not, it should not be happening anyway

Yes. It is fact that Maxwell trawled trailer parks, Malls, parks near schools. That was in court documents.

They really are pulling out the big guns now! And yes, disgusting to use an 8 year old child like that.

If we're dreaming pal, I'm getting the guillotine out.

@DeanElderberry you asked a valid question about Earl Spencer encouraging his 16 year old child to have a relationship with a 32 year old man. I didn't realise Diana was so young at the time of her marriage either, I quickly googled, whilst I doubt she was likely going to have been picked up from a grooming gang, she was still highly vulnerable and should have been and had her interests protected. I'm not sure a few more sociology classes in year 7 about such things would have made much more difference to her, sadly. But regardless of social class every child deserves safety.

But this is a Judge deciding that these papers can be released. Not a media outlet, not a member of the public. A Judge not sharing a secret. A Judge deciding papers can be unsealed.

wordler · 04/01/2024 15:11

It would be helpful for people to mention the context when mentioning names - this isn’t a list of people seen on Epstein’s island - it’s names of people coming up in various types of witness and court documents in a variety of contexts.

As well as some of the scenarios being hearsay or potentially simply not true. Here’s how Leonardo Di Caprio’s name came up…

Ms Sjoberg is asked about a "press report that said you had met Cate Blanchett or Leonardo DiCaprio" in her evidence.

She says she didn't meet either of them, but "when I was massaging him [Epstein], he would be on the phone a lot of the time, and one time he said 'Oh that was Leonardo, or 'That was Cate Blanchett, or Bruce Willis. That kind of thing".

The interviewer clarifies: "So name-dropping?", to which she responds: "Yes."

Oh @wordler my friend didn’t tell me the context! I’ll ask to have my Initial comment removed.
