Hiya hen, I saw your post earlier but couldn't find it. My phone took its annual trip in the washing machine last week so I can barely keep a page up.
I see what you're saying about the lack of parental guidance when these kids who have been groomed are very unlikely to have sensible care givers, but as opposed to questioning what we're they doing, my issue really is, what's going to be done? Just because a parent has addictions or low level intellectual disability, regardless of that, if they've willingly known their children were in this situation and allowed it to happen. Not even for personal financial gain, even if it's something less sinister such as they're believing their kids are being given an opportunity because they're not someone who has the ability to assess risks, regardless of whatever the reasons, if they've allowed their children who under their care has been allowed to travel to an island to give powerful and wealthy predators sexual gratification, then something here needs addressing. I'm not even suggesting prison sentences if it's been allowed because of parents being unable to really understand the consequences, but if those parents had knowledge, which in my very humble opinion would have been much harder to hide than grooming gangs in your local community, then society has failed and needs to really do something to ensure this kind of thing is never ever something parents, regardless of adversity or ability, see as acceptable ever again.
Where predators can find prey, as a society we must teach people how to defend. And it most definitely starts with helping those in highly impoverished and problematic areas.
Tldr; we need to improve what we teach people in the most ran down shitholes of society. Knowledge is power ✊
