Please settle this argument - milk is for santa

Milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer
this is the way it was done in my childhood and my children’s childhood.
A friend said she always left the milk and carrots for the reindeer and Santa got a cookie.
i know there isn’t a right or wrong way to do it but please help settle the argument that the milk is for Santa!

(lighthearted as we haven’t stopped laughing at the disagreement)

Sherry and a mince pie for Father Christmas, carrots for the reindeer.

Milk and cookies for Santa is a mimsy American thing, influenced by the abstinence lobby.(The people behind Probation - and over 30% of USians are teetotalers, even now.)

Mince pie and whisky for Santa. Carrot for the reindeer.

The drinks are clearly for Santa, otherwise the children's book 'Father Christmas Needs a Wee' makes no sense.

Santas only along for the ride, everyone knows Rudolph is in control.

As for the farting, Santa is sat back there so cooked on sherry/port/baileys and whiskey that he won't smell a thing.

I'm pretty sure neither Santa nor the reindeer should be offered alcohol as it's a bad idea to mix drink and drugs and they're probably already high on fly agaric.

@NoNameisGoodEnough i thought of the god-awful ‘Father Christmas needs a wee’ too. Number one on the list of most dreaded nighttime story requests. Think we hid it in the end.

The drink is for Santa 🎅.
In this house he usually gets beer. We went to buy mince pies but in the shop with 7yo changed his mind and bought cookies.

Why do children forget all the other reindeer? No sharing carrots in this house they all get one each.

Water for reindeer. I then put some red food colouring in because rudolphs nose makes it go red

Santa has whisky or sherry plus mince pie. Reindeer have a carrot although there is always a nibbled end left the next morning!

Father Christmas delivers presents to bazillions of kids in ONE NIGHT and people are giving him milk?! Give the man a proper drink!

Wine, beer or port for Father Christmas. One year DD added a bowl of water for the reindeers.

Marzipan or chocolate, the reindeers coming our way don't like vegetables and prefer sugar.

It obviously depends if 'santa' drinks or not. He didn't in our house, so it was a glass of milk and three digestive biscuits for Santa and hay and carrots for the reindeers ☺️

Please not milk for Santa! A pernicious American habit that should sod right off back across the pond where it belongs.
In the U.K. he expects a tot of something warming - whisky, brandy, rum or sherry - who on earth wants cold milk on a freezing cold night? Plus a mince pie or two, not cookies!

Father Christmas gets a glass of cherry brandy and a home made mince pie in my house. Dd makes the mince pies specially on Christmas Eve. There’s also a carrot for the reindeer which has to be left with teeth marks in.

Oh no. Father Christmas likes a nice single malt and a homemade mince pie.
