Please settle this argument - milk is for santa

Milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer
this is the way it was done in my childhood and my children’s childhood.
A friend said she always left the milk and carrots for the reindeer and Santa got a cookie.
i know there isn’t a right or wrong way to do it but please help settle the argument that the milk is for Santa!

(lighthearted as we haven’t stopped laughing at the disagreement)

Maybe it’s a local thing - Glasgow/Aberdeen: whisky and a mince pie. And a carrot for the reindeer.

‘milk and cookies’ sounds rather American.

I had an American gran so she passed it down to us but I’d never heard of milk for reindeer until now!

Santa isn’t real so knock yourself out with the choice of beverage. It would make sense if you have to drink it to choose whatever you enjoy. Milk wouldn’t be that nice if it’s been sitting there for hours and a nightmare to put back in the carton.
I used to do a carrot and a mince pie.

Our Father Christmas used to get a glass of sherry and a mince pie, while the reindeer got a carrot.

Same here. However, I don't like sherry so we leave a mince pie and water, lol. Milk feels like a waste, as I won't drink milk that's been sitting around at room temp for the evening as I fight over excited kids off to bed. I think my eldest would actually be quite shocked at the idea of leaving booze, he's driving after all 😂

If he’s not real, why is the mice pie eaten and brandy drunk in the morning when we all get up?

Santa gets a bit of whatever alcohol happens to be about at the time. He got a port and lemon this year. Milk and cookies is an Americanism lights blue touch paper and retires 💥

Santa has to steer a fairly hefty sleigh across the whole world within a short time frame, I am shocked at the amount of irresponsible people offering alcohol.

Of course Father Christmas needs either Sherry/ Port/ Brandy and a mince pie and a carrot for the reindeer! I wouldn't go anywhere for milk and neither would Father Christmas!
