Please settle this argument - milk is for santa

Milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer
this is the way it was done in my childhood and my children’s childhood.
A friend said she always left the milk and carrots for the reindeer and Santa got a cookie.
i know there isn’t a right or wrong way to do it but please help settle the argument that the milk is for Santa!

(lighthearted as we haven’t stopped laughing at the disagreement)

Growing up father Christmas got a glass of brandy and a mince pie. Reindeer got a carrot

My kids now leave out a mince pie and glass of coke for father Christmas. Carrot for the reindeer. Mini candy cane for the elves

Drink is for santa. It's thirsty work going up and down all those chimneys!

Follow up question though...
Do the reindeer ever leave a bit of carrot behind?

Apparently they did this year and dd wondered how it got back on the plate from the roof.
I would have thought the reindeer were so hungry they didn't leave any behind.

Santa got a bottle of beer according to my dc with a mince pie, cookie and milk is an American thing. Carrot for the reindeer.

Technically the milk should be intended for Santa, I’ve never heard about leaving it for the reindeer….
in our house we leave a coke…Santa must get bored of all that milk and he also needs the sugar….used to be beer when I was a kid…

In past years, we've left out a shot of whatever booze we had to hand, plus some biscuits. This year, we left out milk, but within minutes, the bloody cat was at it.

Some of these comments have made me laugh all the way home!
Of course santa should have an alcoholic drink he has a hard job! I hate milk so that gets poured away anyway, but you wouldn’t catch me filling up the dogs bowl with milk to leave in the garden for Rudolph!

My DD couldn't arsed to come down and do the treats this year. DH always takes a bite out of the carrot and mince pie.
So I just left water in a Santa cup and when DD came down in the morning she scoffed the carrot lol

The reindeer did have lacto free milk for a few years in our house but didn’t seem to mind.

This is serious, this is. Historically, Santa had a little whisky. However, drinking and driving is dangerous. Let alone when you are flying in an old machine that does not appear to have a very aerodynamic appearance.

Furthermore, feeding the reindeer cookies would cause them to fart. This may speed the journey, but most unpleasant for the chap sitting behind them on a very busy night 💥.
