My worst Christmas ever!!!

Mine has been a bit shitty too.

Oh no, what’s happened?

Not great!

Not totally shit, there's been some nice moments - lovely dog walk this morning, chatting with strangers and neighbours in the street. A nice lunch.

But yes there's been a lot of stress, family drama, and I'm exhausted now. It's always underwhelming. Find little bits of joy where you can.

Lots of elderly family and I do everything. Totally exhausted and back at work on weds

Hate Christmas

Woke up at 3am with a vomiting bug 🤢 slept all day and missed the kids opening their gifts, dinner and what would have been the best Christmas of my life. I'm feeling pretty miserable now and praying I haven't passed the bug on to anyone else. Bah humbug!

Me too! 4 year old DD has been on terrible form today so it feels like all the effort I've put into this day being magical for her has all been in vain 😭roll on the next day!

I did all the cooking ,washing up etc ,

Two adult kids visiting never offer to help PLUS they had the telly bellowing , no peace.

I took the dog out for a bit of escape.

They're now all buried in their phones, I can't wait till they all go home, then I can properly relax.

Definition worst ever here. My 60th birthday tomorrow and total write off due to colds etc. Miserable

Yep. Gutted as I’ve been so looking forward to it and have put in so much effort for the children and spent an absolute fortune hosting everyone. Would like everyone to f@ck off now but they are staying overnight.

I had a great day, until I phoned “home” and my sister managed to push all my buttons and make me feel shit. Families, eh?…

Sorry to everyone who has found it a bit meh or worse. I'm suffering from a painful outbreak of genital herpes and my Dad forgot to give me a Christmas present (this isn't the first time) which did upset me even though I'm a woman in her 50s who needs to get a grip. He sometimes forgets my DC's Christmas/birthdays too but always remembers his girlfriend. It's not age-related, just thoughtlessness as my Mum looked after this sort of thing when she was alive... I'm training my DC to be very thoughtful humans! Happier Twixtmas all...

Not the worst day but not the best. Started off with DP sharting all over me in bed at 5am… so definitely “shit” day for me. Thank fuck for gin.

Yep. Shit here too. DDs not interested in even being here (elder buggered off to bf's house and middle one opted to stay at her fathers). Got lovely, thoughtful gifts but DP is being very distant and I feel totally unwanted and guilty for whatever I'm doing that's causing this.

I’ve had the most boring Christmas ever! Nothing terrible and the food was good. But we went to the ILs for the day (11:30 to 7) and there was nothing to do! They’d prepared to games, quiz, nothing! So the adults sat making bored chat whilst the poor kids sat round on the floor with nothing to do. On Christmas Day! I tried a few times to suggest games to which the reply was ‘well the kids know which cupboard cluedo is in’

i was thinking more we’d all do something together!

I have d&v, but the special kind where you have no warning and then suddenly you have shat yourself. Not the day I planned.

So shit here! Did all cooking and washing up at my exes. He was drunk from this morning, accused of everything and called a liar. I'm not. Had to leave whilst being screamed at with 3 year old and 9 year old. Home and safe now but we're all a bit shell-shocked.

Well. I’ve NC for this, but I have finally realised, almost 3 years after discovering my “devoted and loving” husband was having an affair with an acquaintance of mine, that I deserve fucking more. He’s tried and he’s sorry but I’m fucking DONE. She was 20 years my senior and a more unpleasant woman you’ve never met. He is weak and pathetic and I have jettisoned that fat wanker. 2024 will be the year I find myself again. Merry Christmas.
