Lip fillers?

Lilllypad11 · 25/12/2023 01:38

I’ve been contemplating for AGES, I would love ti get them done because it’s something I’ve wanted for 4 years and I haven’t ever changed my mind.

I’ve done lots of research and I’ve found a clinic I think I’d like to visit.

my sister believes that it’s a bad idea to start so early. But I just want a bit of plumpness in the lips. Nothing fake looking.

can anyone advise?

I think the short answer to this, as has already been said, is if it makes YOU happy, then knock yourself out, but don’t expect others to agree!
happy Christmas!

A still photo doesn't capture what a face looks like in real life. It often makes the lips move differently and as we are 3D objects it looks very different from other angles. Yes it's your body and you can do as you wish but it seems to get addictive for people who keep getting more. I do wish the trend would go away to be honest... But I realise I have a privilege as I have very big lips. (Ironically a source of bullying at school, by girls who now get filler)

Don't do it. They look shit and can go very wrong.

Literally everyone you see on tv or in a movie or a magazine has had them done. It’s just the quality of the work. Trust me - i go to a high end place in mayfair and see a LOT of famous people who would swear blind they never had work done (A listers, not Towie)

But you tell that with most of them…

This is who did my lip filler - Dr Tara Kidd at Skinclinic.co.uk

These are not my lips but this is what I went for - it sort of plumped my lips back to where they were when I was about 30.
I did not want anything unnatural looking. But be warned the first 24 -48 hours they swell, it’s shocking and you can’t hide that you have had something done..but then they were exactly what I wanted and they have remained plumper than before, for the past 18 months or so.

Edited

Sorry to say, but these look hideously false!

You have the duck profile though, so you can tell and it looks bad (sorry to be so blunt but they aren’t permanent)

I don’t know if they can look natural or not, but they don’t if they stick out like this

I can tell with a lot of celebs what they’ve had done, lip fillers including.

I used to work recently around Goodge Street and pop to meet a friend for lunch or after work drinks who worked near Harley Street. Sometimes you’d see celebs hopping into a taxi after getting something done, naming no names. Similar in Knightsbridge.

TinselTitts · 25/12/2023 12:30

Is this the biweekly lip filler thread?

I keep having to check the date 👀👄

I used to be called rubber lips as a teenager. Now I’ve got great well defined lips at 52.

My best friend as a teenager had thin lips which she didn’t like. She’s not the type to get lip fillers but I wouldn’t blame her or anyone else who did to be honest. If I had thin lips I might go for them too.

brawnthesheep · 25/12/2023 12:31

I think we’re just very good at seeing the uncanny valley, so even quite small adjustments can look very unnatural in the context of one’s face.

Yes, many look fine in photos or when the face is at rest but something can look off when the face is animated same sometimes with fillers elsewhere & botox.

Your face your choice.

People who say they ‘all’ look fake don’t have a clue. Literally everyone you see on tv or in a movie or a magazine has had them done. It’s just the quality of the work. im looking at injectors around there. Can you recommend??

Lip fillers always, always, always look fake (and in my opinion, awful). Whether it's the duck pout or the migration to outside of lip line, it just looks bad.

MyopicBunny · 25/12/2023 13:30

Nope, just googled the Russian technique, still bad.

That's your opinion. Maybe I wouldn't be keen on your style?

MyopicBunny · 25/12/2023 13:34

It seems strange to me that people who don't like lip fillers and have no interest in getting them done themselves repeatedly click on threads to tell people not to get them done.

It's the same when people talk about breast augs.

If you don't want them, fine but don't dictate to others and assume that we should all share your opinions.

YabbaDabbaDooooo · 25/12/2023 14:08

Literally everyone you see on tv or in a movie or a magazine has had them done.

That's such a strange thing to want to make yourself believe.

SomeCatFromJapan · 25/12/2023 14:14

It's the same when people talk about breast augs.

What bothers me about those is you're actually impairing muscle functionality. I'm in a particularly fitness group and some of the members have impants below the pecs as they look more natural, and they have to worry about lifting heavy weights in case they shift.
I'd personally rather have the intended function of my muscles than bigger tits.

skatykatie · 25/12/2023 14:19

I have tiny lips and had mine done last year. I only had 0.5ml but It ended up migrating and looking awful. I don't think I would have it done again to be honest

Yes, my recommendation is don't listen to people who say they've had it done and you can't tell. Everybody can tell and it looks bad.

Gowlett · 25/12/2023 14:30

I think the get look crap on everyone, young & old.

I know, it's very bizarre. I agree.

At most you can state your opinion but don't berate women and call them all the names under the sun.

Seems strange to let something get to your head so much just because you're not a fan of it!

Post a pic then.......

I’m not gonna start papping people in the waiting area, bad form and i’d get chucked out. Believe me or don’t. They all get it done.

Really? I have a mate who lifts weights at competition level and she has below pec implants.

SomeCatFromJapan · 25/12/2023 15:26

Fair enough. It seems to be mixed in my group, some exercising as normal, some flapping about not going too heavy. Just seems easier not to bother really.

Also i don’t get my lips done as i’m happy with them how they are.

jhy · 25/12/2023 15:40

I don't regret mine. I think if you have really thought about it and researched then go for it!
