Lip fillers?

I’ve been contemplating for AGES, I would love ti get them done because it’s something I’ve wanted for 4 years and I haven’t ever changed my mind.

I’ve done lots of research and I’ve found a clinic I think I’d like to visit.

my sister believes that it’s a bad idea to start so early. But I just want a bit of plumpness in the lips. Nothing fake looking.

can anyone advise?

My daughter is 20 and she wants hers done. Since I've been having mine done for the last 15 years (about once a year) I can't really expect her to not do this if she wants to. It is a fashion that a lot of people have. But it's reversible. So it dissolves in time and you can also have it dissolved. And some famous people have publicly done this too. Your mouth isn't left wrinkly.

I don't know anyone that's been left either a wrinkly mouth either!

This is the only clinic that I've seen that do natural looking lips. One day I might go for it but the thought of needles in my lips freaks me out.

Yeah it does hurt. Again though, some practitioners are much better than others.

AndSoFinally · 25/12/2023 23:18

It doesn't hurt that much though, and it's all done in less than 10 minutes. I have a sunken scar on my face next to my lip, so had some lip fillers to try and even it out. You probably can tell if you really look, but I don't think anyone pays that much attention! Or particularly cares anyway. Plus, I'm nearly 50 and I think it's made my mouth area look a bit younger

Neither of those look natural.

I personally think that the only way you can get away with it being subtle enough not to notice is if...
a. You have a tiny amount, 0.3 or 0.5. Top up if need be. I was pressured to have a 'standard' 1ml 'or it wouldn't be worth it' so I went elsewhere.

b. I already have slight 'duck lips' I confess 😀 Upturned philtrum etc

I last had it done a year ago and it's still there (I can feel it) so good value for money. Nobody noticed, not my husband, mum, sisters or friends. And believe me they would say. I confided in one friend and she didn't believe me. You might think 'what's the point?' but I wanted the tiniest amount to counter the fine, tiny lines that appeared now and then on the edges and the technique used has prevented my upper lip sinking in (if that makes sense) and given it a lift.

So is it also bad when people dye their hair blue etc because it looks 'fake'? If someone is happy with a look then that's their business, not yours. This is no different from fat shaming.

Again, what does that have to do with my post?

I'm beginning to think lip fillers cause illiteracy.

MyopicBunny · 26/12/2023 13:30

@LordSnot what is your actual point? Because that's not clear either. Why do you feel the need to tell people that have lip fillers that they don't look natural? Does it make you feel better about your own looks?

MyopicBunny · 26/12/2023 13:38

Also some people like to look like they've had it done and thats fine, too. Do you think you have the final say on what's attractive? It's none of your business if people have work done. I don't pick apart other women's looks because I'm not an insecure woman who feels the need to point out other women's flaws . Live and let live.

Your face, your choice. But they will look shit.

They look pretty natural to me. Why do they not look natural?

Whoopdeloop · 26/12/2023 14:14

I got a very small amount about 2 years ago, it hurt like hell and I decided not to have mine done again, but ultimately the decision is yours @Lilllypad11 . At the end of the day it's your face and you are the one paying for it, so I would say do what makes you happy 😊

It's clear to people who can read.

tillyandmilly · 26/12/2023 18:00

Ridiculous! Hopefully this fad will start to fade! I am afraid I can’t help staring at women who have these lips - not out of envy but out of pity they feel they need to look like an alien!

AInightingale · 26/12/2023 18:17

I know a woman in her early 50s who started having this done a couple of years ago, and she has quite significant shading on her top lip now - filler migration. Maybe it's the case that it only works long term on younger women.

BowlOfNoodles · 26/12/2023 19:02

I've been having lip filler for donkeys years... I started off going to a local beautician, they looked crap duck like uneven and just horrendous.... I had them desolved then I was convinced to have them refilled by a lady who was a qualified nurse they looked passable at that stage and finally I stumped up the extra and went to a qualified doctor with decades of experience I've been going to him for years now and I absolutely LOVE my lips. It's always worth paying for the level of experience.

BowlOfNoodles · 26/12/2023 19:04

I guarantee one of these women have had a boobjob or a rhinoplasty lol.

Tonight1 · 26/12/2023 19:10

There was a thread on here about lip fillers and a couple of women posted pics of theirs and tbh they'd gone for a really natural slight increase.

Dislike the huge overblown lip filler look though.

That will go away if she gets it dissolved.

That's the consequence of having filler on top of filler.

I have shading on my top lip and I don't have filler! That can occur naturally if you have full lips. My bottom lip sticks out like I'm pouting all the time because it's just naturally big.

Bionicnose · 16/12/2025 08:23

Honestly, the comments are so spiteful.

Bionicnose · 16/12/2025 08:26

That's me, approaching my 51st, before my first lip-and-whatever-else is needed job.

Cherryana · 25/12/2023 04:14

This is who did my lip filler - Dr Tara Kidd at Skinclinic.co.uk

These are not my lips but this is what I went for - it sort of plumped my lips back to where they were when I was about 30.
I did not want anything unnatural looking. But be warned the first 24 -48 hours they swell, it’s shocking and you can’t hide that you have had something done..but then they were exactly what I wanted and they have remained plumper than before, for the past 18 months or so.

Edited

Sorry you can still tell and it still looks fake.
