That strangulation during sex one I think is just a form of BDSM. Like spanking, whipping, ball gags, hog-tying etc. All perfectly fine as long as the couple are experienced and know exactly what they're doing. It's no more 'sick' than couples playing out their fantasies and fetishes which others would generally find weird or disturbing. Best just leave them to it. It's nobody else's business.

BigDahliaFan · 19/12/2023 12:03

A women who made her kids take their clothes off when they came back from visiting their Dad (her ex husband) and would give him back the clothes as that's what they wore at his house and she wasn't going to wash and deal with them.

Whapples · 19/12/2023 12:03

The poster who debated giving up her rescue dog because it got scared of her son while in a crate and was barking and biting etc (while in the crate so couldn’t get near her son). Shocked me that people will rehome an animal over one weird occurrence that was a total non incident!

Kitkat189 · 19/12/2023 12:03

What a read! Thank you for sharing. Poor poor OP

marquislafayette · 19/12/2023 12:04

Oh god yes the threads about SEN and disabled children are generally awful. I get some of the situations described are frustrating but on MN it’s always the SEN parents fault, they seem to think ‘firm boundaries’ and ‘being bothered to parent’ would sort out any issues despite the fact they have ZERO experience of raising a child with additional needs. Then the occasional thread of posters seething at a parent living comfortably whilst not working full-time because they receive DLA and carers payments for their disabled child.

This was for @FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper

The only thing I can protest about this is the incorrect use of the word American. America is comprised of 35 nations not just the US. So yes there are many unique American cheeses, the Mexican queso fresco is a favorite of mine. I'm only slightly joking and you're not wrong.

What is the correct adjective (one word) to describe things that originate from the USA, @flowerchild2000 ?

Newsenmum · 19/12/2023 12:06

The not washing bedsheets for months on end 😰

Some of the relationship posts have been horrific. Don’t want to repeat them really. All sorts of abuse.

Newsenmum · 19/12/2023 12:07

When people say “not my kink not my problem” when it involves children. Also when it happens in p*rn. So upsetting.

What is shocking is the sheer depth of anger some people carry around with them - the disgust and vitriol shown towards benefit claimants, single parents, disabled people and anyone over the age of 50 is horrifying.

I agree with this, and the ageism worries me more and more as I get older myself (I'm 57 now) .
People seem to think that they themselves will never age.

I have just sat and read through this (Not every comment, just Earthmothers updates) Angels do exist, so humbling. What an incredible lady (and her husband). Now to sort the mascara out before my Teams call in 10 minutes.....

Oh my goodness, I've just read all of Earth Mother's updates too and was amazed and humbled at such a wonderful woman and her journey with that sweet baby. But to learn that Earth mother passed away only a couple of years later, at only 59, just doesn't seem fair 😭 I hope her family are doing okay and that the baby is a happy and healthy teenager ❤️

Funny, because my most shocking examples are when men pop up to completely misrepresent threads to pretend they reveal these oh so shocking double standards when in fact you just reveal your own agenda.

That thread was not in any way as you describe here. But it's telling that you have to fabricate examples of misandry and hypocrisy as clearly you can't find very many real ones.

Well said.

The agenda is glaringly obvious with this one.

a poster who compared stay at home Mums to prostitutes.

I'm sorry, what now? 😳

Oh yeah. You need to stay off the sahm threads as they are horrendously offensive and depressing.

Devilsmommy · 19/12/2023 12:14

@moomoomoo27 Ive read quite a few of them on parenting boards

Haha this reminds me of a thread on Facebook where someone insisted people from the USA should be called "Unitedstatians" 😂😂😂
Because "America" is the continent. I'm pretty sure if someone was talking about the continent they'd specify "north America" or "south America "
Grammar Nazis smh

That people wipe their backsides while sitting on the loo and that the loo in question may have never seen a brush. Skid marks under the waterline. Discuss.

What's wrong with sitting on the toilet to wipe? Surely standing up for wiping risk more debris and poo being at risk of goinh everywhere? 😆🤣

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 19/12/2023 12:19

Sorry for the typos... I meant to say "wiping risks more debris going everywhere"

Exactly, I'm a sitter/leaner - can't see how you can do it standing up, surely everything is pushed together?

for me, t-rexing in asda.... https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/mumsnet_classics/1498923-Shouting-at-me-in-the-supermarket

Not shocking as such, just really, really memorable.....

Oh fucking hell 😂 I've heard of this fabled thread but never read it before. My favourite quote from the OP (and there were many to choose from).

'be careful when doing the T-Rex as it can turn into the Mr Burns'

Absolutely howling!!

Bloke who came on and started an AMA thread, declaring himself an IT specialist who wanted to assist the women of MN. Predictably got a bit of a kicking, but the funniest comment was ‘Thank god you’re here - up until now I’d just been bashing my tits on the keyboard and hoping for the best’.

God that thread was hilarious.

pickledandpuzzled · 19/12/2023 12:24

It’s pretty shocking that evidence has been posted here of the dangers of choking and the changes in the law, and people are still popping up to say, ‘no it’s fine. Consensual innit?!’

Simply put-

There is no safe way to choke.
If you die or have a stroke your partner will be at risk of being prosecuted for it.

‘Consensual’ has successfully got men off murder charges. Apparently women can and do consent to brutal injury during sex so men can’t be properly held to account for it.

No one cares if you enjoy it, if you have underlying trauma or not. It’s dangerous no matter how carefully you do it. That is not kink shaming.
