It's expensive enough for wine in the pub in a normal glass ! A pint of it would be double the price and only appeal to hen nights or those with lots of disposable income etc
Or lots of straws

I don't get it at all. Who is cheering this new stupid initiative?

I like bottles the size of the rest of Europe thanks am drinking a very nice Spanish rioja as I type

From Jo Maugham...

The world is burning, malnutrition has trebled, working families are struggling to pay the bills, nothing works anymore and the NHS is in permacrisis.

Rishi Sunak:

Sure I read something this morning about this being good for the canned wine industry.

I realise we are desperate to grow any industry at this point but no. Just no. There are 2 containers acceptable for wine. Bottles (of varying sizes) and boxes (for those occasions when you just need all the wine).

Ooh we had a lovely Rioja when we ran out of communion wine the other week. I do like a Rioja.

The thing is it is uncouth to drink directly from a 750ml wine bottle as it is too large, and only Keir drinks beer from the bottle, so the civilised parts of this country need wine in pint bottles to swig from.

The great thing for Rishi who has the knack politically of turning wine into water, is that it will remind those who are ardent Brexiteers that he has singularly failed to deliver any kind of meaningful Brexit benefits.

A bit like each time he talks about immigration it reminds them he has failed to tackle it.

Cleverly won’t be punished for the date rape drug joke because the PM considers the matter closed. So he’s probably got until the 2nd or 3rd of Jan taking into account the BH weekend.

I am sure we were told that Boris' lying about his and Sunak's partying was a closed matter as well.
But there is almost exactly no chance that Sunak will be asked about it in parliament.
Good job that knowing what a woman is wasn't going to be part of their electoral strategy.

It's revealing that Mercer's answer to any criticism is to denigrate the person rather than address the issue.

BIossomtoes · 28/12/2023 11:48

That’s the Tory way with this government.

newnamethanks · 28/12/2023 12:12

Mr and Mrs Mercer are both overly fond of the sound of their own voices. I thought people stopped listening to them some time back.

I do expect public servants - particularly MPs - to be able to discuss issues without using the puking emoji or suggesting people are lonely. That applies to any MP.

It's just odd & immature. But, as it is the season etc, I will point out there are plenty of Conservative MPs that wouldn't resort to name calling & emojis.

I can't imagine David Davis for example (similarly a veteran and someone whose politics is largely far from my own) posting similar.

I suppose Mercer would call me a bedwetter for expecting articulate, thoughtful responses.

Piggywaspushed · 28/12/2023 13:01

God, I just realised he is insulting the goddess thta is Carol Vorderman !!

DuncinToffee · 28/12/2023 13:10

Cleverley has been community noted for taking credit for 'stopping boats' due to storm Gerrit.

You'd think he would stay quiet for a bit

LlynTegid · 28/12/2023 13:11

Sympathy for Mrs Cleverley, after all unlike the latest Mrs Johnson there was not an ex-wife or mistress to warn her what he was like, before they married.

Zonder · 28/12/2023 17:31

I love the community notes. Just about the only good thing since Musk took over.

Piggywaspushed · 29/12/2023 08:18

Quite a few of us commented on obvious press toadying and seeded stories during the pandemic and were told it was rubbish...

Roussette · 29/12/2023 08:26

Exactly @Piggywaspushed
I remember it clearly

Two anti-Starmer threads running in Politics at the moment. I am convinced now that there will be a May GE.
