One opinion that you have that will never waver, no matter what?..

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a calm, authoritative parent using spanking as a form of discipline.

DeeCeeCherry · 04/12/2023 03:56

Staying in a job you utterly hate and/or keeping ties with horrible people that make you feel totally rubbish just because they're family/friends/partner is a waste of a life

Erm, no.

Weed is a terrible drug but is never seen as one

Agree

Paranoid skunk weed heads
Boring talk about how great this weed/spliff is
Either talk too much or too spaced out to talk
Can't function without their 'weed personality'
Munchies at 3am yapping on about being hungry
Clothes & hair stinking of weed if your partner smokes it
Cost - all that money going up in smoke

TotalAbsenceOfImperialRaiment · 04/12/2023 04:43

Children who are seriously and persistently disruptive in school should be excluded.

Fish and cheese do not go together unless the fish is teeny tiny like anchovies.

Oh no 😟

if I never ate a piece of cod fillet in cheese sauce or a cheese loaded fish pie again it would be a very sad day indeed.

That people who care about spelling and grammar aren’t as clever as they like to think they are.

Trans people are really not the big deal Mumsnet makes them out to be and the obsession with them is blinkered and trivial.

Breastfeeding is obviously best for babies.

The Beatles are overrated.

Private schools should be converted into comprehensives so all children can benefit for their lovely buildings and facilities.

It's not trans people per se. It's MEN. Men have always been a problem for women, and women wanting safeguards from men is not 'trivial'. It is the most important right a woman can have.

ManAboutTown · 04/12/2023 06:05

Men can't be women

Every nation and race has bad things in their history not just Europeans

Why is it such an important life skill? I am forty and I can't swim, and it hasn't impeded my life in the least.

Your life isn’t over yet. You might not get a say if the situation arises.

Tiredalwaystired · 04/12/2023 06:53

PaperLanterns · 03/12/2023 18:38

That parents have stopped parenting children under the guise of gentle parenting and we are now experiencing the full effects of this with overly anxious children who can’t behave in school.

They are scared. They are sad. They are over stimulated. They are poorly nourished. They can’t have conversations. They don’t read.

Hmmmm. I don’t think that’s always the cause of anxiety. That’s quite a leap.

Huh? I can assure you that there will be no situation that will arise where I am at risk of death by drowning.

ILostMyself · 04/12/2023 09:09

Gender doesn’t exist. There are only 2 sexes. The teaching of gender ideology should be banned and leading children to think they may have been born wrong is child abuse. The whole movement is misogynistic, homophobic and has all the signs of a social contagion. Kids, often autistic, who would most likely grow up to be gay are being fed lies and the giving of puberty blockers and hrt below 18 is child abuse as is the cutting off of healthy body parts (double mastectomies in those as young as 12 are happening in the US!).

It’s heartening to see this child abuse scandal being spoken about on the chat board by so many. People need to be brave and start having real life conversations about this more if they aren’t already. This movement needs to stop being normalised to protect our children. I greatly oppose the string of rights being removed from women but, for me, what this is doing to our children and the many lives it is ruining (families included) concerns me massively.

Mostly likely. But you can never ever guarantee that can you? I mean, even severe flooding could be a risk to you.

Im not saying you have to die in this hill. It’s my hill. And my children were going to be around water. So this was a non negotiable.

BitchBrigade · 04/12/2023 09:24

In total agreement about biological sex and gender opinions, and I will die at the very peak of that hill with this:

Not wanting to date or have sex with a Trans person is not transphobia. Yes I've been screamed at for it back when I was dating and every single time it has been MtF Trans. As a member of LGBTQ it absolutely disgusts me that this is even a mindset and it helps poison the well amongst the whole community.

mjf981 · 04/12/2023 09:34

The world would be far better without humans on it. The sooner we wipe ourselves out and the world can recover, the better.

I am not going to die on this hill, partly because I literally live on a hill. It makes sense that you would have that perspective if your children were going to be around water. However, I am not ever going to be in a situation where I am at risk of drowning, so I don't need to learn to swim.

SelfPortraitWithHagstone · 04/12/2023 09:45

I mean, I'm not disagreeing necessarily, but that sounds like you shouldn't be looking for a hill, just lying down and giving up wherever you already are... 😂

Pizdietz · 04/12/2023 09:46

To posters who are prepared to die on a hill for use or non-use of the Oxford/serial comma, please know that there is no right or wrong about this. Although recommended by Oxford University Press, it tends to be used a bit more in US writing... but here, too, it varies – e.g. the Associated Press style guide (used by US media) does not use it, but the American Medical Association manual of style does.

Sometimes using a serial comma can help to clarify sense.

If you want to read more about it, it even has its own Wiki entry 🤓

Kdtym10 · 04/12/2023 10:05

That there are two sexes. It is impossible to move between the two.

Anything else is based on harmful stereotypes. It’s a #bekind motion being used by some to silence women and exert power over them.

Any woman supporting this ideology is an enabler of misogyny.

Men can never be women and have no place in women only spaces, sports or statistics.

Fairylightfurore · 04/12/2023 11:00

That humans can change sex.

Fairylightfurore · 04/12/2023 11:02

Gender, fine but irrespective sex stays the same.

SlightlyJaded · 04/12/2023 12:54

I have a few hills - I"ll die on them all.

  • Sex not gender
  • Manners and Kindness trump Intelligence and Truth
  • Convicted murderers should not be granted parole if they don't reveal the whereabouts of a body
  • Every country should have a basic citizenship test for people who want to make it a permanent home. This should include an understanding and respect for local culture and a basic grasp of language (or commitment to learning). And before everyone bites my head off, I am not just talking about people coming into the UK, I am also talking about the likes of British Ex Pats in Spain who live in gated Mini-Britains, moan about the food and can't say more than two words in Spanish.
  • Chocolate should never be put in the fridge
SlightlyJaded · 04/12/2023 12:54

Sorry for weird paragraphs!
