Yes, me too, I went on FWR firmly believing that trans women should be treated as women a few years ago and some of the post from the intelligent women on there made the scales fall off in the sense that trans rights won't impact privileged women in the same way they will vulnerable women, the ones who need to access prisons, refuges etc. Once you see that being kind harms women you can't unsee it.

Some of the hypothetical issues for women posed by gender ideology seemed so far fetched at the time, such as men competing as women at sport, rapists in women's prison etc. It started as 'it will never happen', and then it went to 'well it's a one off' and a suggestion that women and children who are harmed by trans women are simply 'collateral damage' for the greater good that is that gender is more important. Then you look at WHO this benefits and it is almost always males and you see it for what it really is.

So no I don't agree that this is an echo chamber that doesn't improve awareness, it's not my experience nor the experience of many women who have been educated by the intelligent women on FWR that we don't have to 'be kind' and give away women's rights to this group of males who don't care a jot that their being in our single sex spaces causes harm.

I do find it odd that so many people are claiming the ONE hill they would die on is the trans issue. Really? You wouldn't die on hills such as anti-racism, social justice, eliminating poverty, eliminating disability discrimination, decent health care, etc etc?

I think it is because it is a new(ish) issue, and affecting all women directly. Of course I am against racism, ableism etc-but they don't directly affect all women directly and in such a dangerous way.

Men have given up trying to fight feminism, they've seen we're not backing down so now they're joining us instead.
